Link had just finished a battle and was tired. He had already done more in his short 11 years then some people had done in there whole lives. He went up to his tree house and saw Saria asleep on her bed. She stirred. "Link?" she said in a sleepy voice "I made you dinner, it's on the table" There sat a plate filled with steaming vegetables, a bowl of soup and a glass of milk. Saria was like a sister to him and she took care of him. Her old house had burnt down and she now lived with Link. Every night was similar to this one and they were content.
One day Link went to the Temple of Time for a mission. He aged 8 years so he could be stronger. He went to see Princess Zelda. It was late but he managed to sneak past the guards. She was asleep and so he left a note for her to come to his house the next night. Saria was sitting at her desk writing in her journal when Link entered the room. She thought he was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. "Link, I've missed you! I've kept the house up and clean! Where have you been." she said wanting to know what had happened to her friend. But before he could answer someone entered the house. They were completely covered except for there eyes. Link smiled, and motioned for them to sit.
The visitor took off her coverings to reveal a beautiful 17 year old Zelda. She had long blonde hair and big blue eyes and large breasts. Saria knew she would never look like that. Zelda sat there in a light blue dress and held a piece of paper. "I'll leave you two to talk" Saria said leaving the house. She went by the river and began to think `Link and I have known each other forever, but I have never noticed him like this before. He is my age and yet I look like I am 11 . . .I'll never age. I must tell him how I feel. I must tell him that I think I'm in love with him. Otherwise I might lose him forever . . .'
Saria ran back to the house and opened the door "Link I .. . ." she stopped herself when she saw there two naked bodies together on HER bed. A tear rolled down her cheek and she ran out. Link got off of Zelda and put on his pants not bothering with his tunic or hat. He ran out to see her but she was gone. Zelda came out with nothing but a sheet around her. She kissed Links neck but he didn't even notice her.
"Link, she is like a sister to you. I'm in love with you. You know that, don't you?" she whispered in his ear. He nodded. He did love Saria, but not like a lover. He was head over heels in love with Zelda and had been since he first saw her. But how could he explain it to Saria. He went over to the stables and saw that Saria's horse was gone and there was a note.

Zelda read the note and gasped "It will kill her!" Link looked at her puzzled "You were chosen. If she does it she will be killed instantly!" He hopped on Epona with Zelda clinging to his back and the two rode off to go see Saria. They ran into the Temple of Time just to see Saria grab the sword "No!" Link screamed. But it was too late. There was a flash of light and Saria went flying backwards and hit the wall. He ran over to her and held her in his arms. Zelda sat down next to him. Link shed a tear upon her face and brushed back her green hair. He gave her a soft kiss then closed her eyes. Eyes of someone who will always be `Just a Friend'
