The sun shined through the translucent curtains and shined across the glass floor. I could hear my mom's car pull into the graveled driveway as morning dawned. I lifted my head and walked over to my curtains and looked out. My mom walked up the driveway in her black heels with her hair done in a tight bun.

I sighed and shut them then walked up to my mirror and put my hair into a messy ponytail. I walked over to my closet and pulled out a t-shirt. I then walked over to my dresser and pulled out a pair of skinny jeans. I grabbed my makeup bag and walked out of my room and into the bathroom. I took a quick shower and got dressed. I did my makeup and hair then walked downstairs.

"Morning mom," I said as I passed her to grab a piece of toast from the plate that was laid out on the counter.

"Morning sweetie," she replied with a smile. I went to my fridge and grabbed an orange from the bowl. I pealed it and through the skin in the garbage and sat on the counter. "What are you doing today?"

"School, as usual." I replied.

She laughed. "I mean after school, what are you doing then?"

I shrugged. "I'm not sure. Probably just coming home." She nodded. "Why?"

"Well, I have to work another shift, and Tony won't be home until 7. I just didn't want you to be home all alone until then." she explained.

"I'm sixteen mom. I can handle myself." I replied. I jumped off the counter and trhough away the extra pieces I had and washed my hands.

"I know you are, but I still have to be protective of you." she said. I sighed and wiped my hands on the towel hanging from the towel rack. "And as you said, you are only sixteen. You're not an official adult yet." she said. I rolled my eyes and walked out of the room without another word. I didn't mind the protection, but some freedom from them would be nice for once. I grabbed my bag from under my bed and walked back downstairs. "Ready to go to school?" my mom asked. I nodded and followed her to her car. I tossed my bag in the back seat and watched the sightings as we drove.

"Okay, I'm going to trust you at home. I guess you're right, you are growing up and need to live on your own." she said. I mentally smiled and cheered for joy, but kept my composure on the outside.

"Thanks mom." I replied. She smiled and nodded. She pulled up to the school and I got out.

"See you later sweetheart." she said. I nodded and walked through the crowd of kids.

"Excuse me...excuse me...excuse me...," I kept repeating trying to shove them all away. I accidently shoved someone to hard and almost made them fall. "I'm so sorry." I said to them. They just shook their head and walked inside the school. I shrugged and followed inside. They had a dark hoodie on with he hood up, black ants and black shoes. I think they even had I think a ski mask on. Weird... But my school was kinda weird, and creepy, both in one.
