Written for Elfgreen week; prompt 'Warmth.'
It was a cold night when she decided. Both Evergreen and Elfman had gone on a job together and after destroying a bit too much stuff with Elfman's Beast Arm, they'd ended up having to sleep with no roof over her heads. She didn't mind too much, it was a pleasant night, if not a bit windy. The bitter rushes of air stung her skin and sent shivers all over her body, and she thought – even in the dark – that she could see goosebumps on her goosebumps.
When another gust of wind swept through the clearing they'd set up for sleeping, she shivered more than she had previously. Curse her love for wearing short dresses!
Her teeth chattered together violently, making a 'clack clack' noise that apparently Elfman took notice of, a difference from his obliviousness of her past shivers. She supposed he hadn't felt the cold so much through all that muscle and warm jacket, while she was a little jealous he'd brought such proper attire for any occasion, she was glad that he had someone like Mira looking out for him. The fool wouldn't be able to find his way out of a paper bag without somebody in his life. The thought made her smile a little; maybe someday she could take the role of Mirajane… Oh crud she was at it again, sometimes she hated having feelings for this doofus.
"Ever? Are you okay? You're shaking pretty badly." She snapped herself out of the silly thoughts in her head and looked at her guildmate… her guildmate who had clearly gotten his face far too close to hers in what must have been concern. Looking down just a little bit she could see his jawline and lips, okay, too close.
"Don't get so close! Give a lady some space while she's thinking!" She pushed him away by his shoulders, feeling a little too happy at the feel of his muscles under her fingers. Gah! When had she become such a pervert?! That's it, she blamed Erza!
"Fine," he was grumbling, sitting back on the ground as he looked at her; a bit annoyed but still overly curious to whether or not she was alright. "But seriously, are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine, just cold. I didn't plan on having to sleep outside though." She managed to summon up a glare for him, thankful she was quite good at hiding how she really felt sometimes.
He was rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, and the sight was quite adorable to her; his eyes were shut. and he had what looked like a cross of a grimace and cheeky smile on his face.
"Sorry about that, but I can help you with the cold thing." She would've asked how if he hadn't suddenly pulled her into his arms and held her tightly to his chest. Mmm, he was warm. She wanted to complain, but the sudden heat she had coursing through her made her tired, she'd yell at him in the morning… maybe.
