Hey guys it's me...I'm back...finally!
All of the characters are owned by John Flanagan and I claim none, exept for Markis, he is my own creation.
"As I speak, there is a gathering of assassins," spoke Halt, "and I am in good authority that they are going to kill the King." Will stared at him in shock,"Your kidding! I thought we sent them packing last time?"
"Well why do think they're gathering?" Halt replied. "They obviously think they can take Horace down by force."
Will walked over to the fireplace to check on the coffee and, satisfied the it was still boiling, sat down. "We better tell Horace and Evanlyn, and can you also ask Gilan if he can spare Kane? We could always use an extra Ranger," Will replied, then a thought popped in his head, I should tell Maddie to get prepared.
"Sure thing " Halt's answer came floating through the door as he ran outside to mount Abelard.
"Wait, where are you going? Aren't you going to have any coffee!?" Will yelled out the door, although even as he said that Will was out the door and on his way the the clearing behind the cabin where Maddie was supposed to be training.
Failing to find Maddie training in the forest Will then made his way to the village in a rather frustrated state. He had told her she could only go into the village after the fifth hour, and only if she had completed her daily training.
He didn't have to look long as the sounds of rambunctious laughter, originating from Jenny's restaurant, could be heard by a good portion of the village.
Will pushed through the doors of Jenny's establishment to be greeted by the sight of Maddie and one of the village teenagers who went by the name Markis.
Will had known Markis as something of a troubled kid when he was younger, but he had matured over the years, although he still had a bit of a rebellious streak. He also knew Markis was also a prime candidate for apprenticeship and was on Gilan's list of new apprentices.
All these thoughts went through Will's head as he demanded an answer from Maddie as to why she was in the village instead of training at the cabin.
"Well I was done with the training course so I left and came down to Jenny's to hang out with Markis," was her reply. "He was just telling me that he saw Halt on the road to Araluen." It was at this point that Markis excused himself and then quickly made his way out of the restaurant.
Truth be told Markis was a little frightened of Will, He was always the grey and grim Ranger to him, having never seen Will before Alyss untimely death. There were times where he, and a few other village boys, would sneak up to the cabin to see Will and his new female apprentice train, only to be met by arrows to appear-quivering-in trees right before his eyes.
Will watched him go, knowing fully why he was anxious to leave. He then turned his attention back to Maddie, and upon telling her to follow him, left the restaurant as well.
