Jacktide fanfic
Chapter 1 Riptide (the pickup line)
I chased the the giant, my einherjar strength giving me an advantage but not much. It didn't help that Jack grunted in protest every time I sliced an arrow out of the air. "Can you quit that? All these nicks will not make me look any more attractive for the lady swords out there." I grunt in response, it took all my concentration not to slip on the ice patches on the tops of buildings. "Oof" Jack's distraction caused me to slip and flip over the railing. As I held on for dear life I knew I lost the giant. "Thanks Jack," Jack's runes glowed with uncertainty, "That was sarcasm right?" An unfamiliar voice called out, "Hello, is anyone up here!"
Was it friend or foe I heard. A kid around my age poked his head over the cement railing. At first I only saw black hair, then the sea green eyes. He reached his hand out to help me, I looked down at Jack and back up at the kid. I forced my arm up and used it to support myself while I reached for his outstretched hand. He was stronger than he looked. The kid pulled me over the railing, "She wasn't kidding, you look like her." "Who?" I asked, panting in the cool winter air. "Annabeth," the boy grinned. "I'm Annabeth's boyfriend, Percy." I looked up at him, "She mentioned you, Poseidon right?" "Yeah,"
Somehow I originally had the impression of Percy wearing Hawaiian shirts with a replica of Poseidon's trident. Instead he looked like a normal kid. I felt a feeling of pure hatred, an aura of sorts. Percy whipped a pen out of his pocket, removing the cap it became a full size Greek sword. I admit that I knew very little about Greek mythology, with my "profession" I didn't need to. Some winged bat things came out. "Arai.." I head Percy mutter. "Don't hit them," I stare, "how do I get rid of them then?" "I don't know, they unleash the dying wish of your enemies upon you."
I crack a smile, suddenly it wasn't so scary, "Jack, can you get rid of them?" "Sure boss, anything to make me look good in front of her, his runes glow with pride. I hurl him into the mob of approaching monsters. He slices through them with ease. After his job was done he floated over to Percy, who couldn't have done much was staring at Jack. "A floating, talking sword.." "Yeah, his name is Jack." Percy looks at me, "so I heard, Apollo said something about a God who had a sword who wouldn't shut up.
"How rude, that was probably me though." Jack replies cheerfully and floats closer to the sword in Percy's hand. "Hey baby, you must be the riptide because you sweep me off my feet."
Percy looks at me, "Is your sword.. Flirting with Riptide?" I look away from Jack, "yeah, recently he's been obsessed with finding a girlfriend." Percy looks back at Jack, not at all subtly flirting with Riptide. "I'm not sure how I feel having a floating, talking sword flirting with mine." He shrinks Riptide back into a pen and puts it into his pocket. Jack directs the flat of his blade at me, his runes glow annoyedly. "Come on man she's so hot, can you ask Peter if Riptide can go out with me some time." I look at Jack, "His name is Percy. Anyways can you become a rune again?" "Sure thing boss," I think he winked at me. That's the feeling I was getting. Percy shivered, "can we get off this roof, Annabeth says you don't' get cold, but I do." I mentally kicked myself. "Yeah, of course, I know this great Falafel place." Percy cracked a cheesy grin, "Let's do it"
