Disclaimer: Nope, none of them belong to me *sigh* If they did then I wouldn't have to be rewriting things to my liking now would I? So what if a plot bunny just ran up and bit me as I trekked across campus this morning?! Oh yeah, feel free to archive me! All I ask is that you send me e-mail letting me know where you have archived my story - thanks bunches!

Summary: This is defiantly set in movie verse. I just don't like Rogue without all of her other powers, so this is one idea on how she might obtain them in the movie. It's set a couple years into the future making Rogue in her early 20's. This story is just about her…sorry, no Remy, nor anyone else really…

If you enjoy the story, please let me know! *looks up* Well, guess that about covers everything - let's get on with it!

Told from Rogue's POV

The Accident

Ah love days like these, when it's cool, but not too humid, and the sun is shinnin', but not enough ta really seem bothersome - the only kind of weather you can experience after a storm. Days like this remind me of what my life was like, simpler times - when ah used to be an X-Man.

It all started on mah way home from runnin' some errands. Ah decided ta walk back ta the institute, seein' how nice a day it was outside. Ah was only maybe a few miles from "home" when they attacked me. All ah remember is seein' some hill-billy group with anti-mutant signs callin' themselves "The Friends of Humanity," right before they knocked me out. Who knows what could've happened if she hadn't of come along.

It was an accident, or at least, that's what ah've been tryin' ta tell mahself. She didn't know any better; she thought she was savin' a girl in danger. Ah had been knocked out cold from the blow ah received to mah head when she found me. Ah didn't know who ah was, much less what ah was; obviously neither did she.

Ah thought mah life was in jeopardy (kinda ironic when ah think about it now), so when she reached out a hand ta help me up, I took off mah glove; ah guess you could say the rest is sorta history. But this time it was different. Ah couldn't let go - not until there was nothin' left in her body ta "steal."

Ah was mortified by the sight of this woman's lifeless body before me. One minute she was playin' hero, and the next she was nothin' but another innocent victim. Ah knew they wouldn't tolerate a murderer like me at the institute; the X-Men never kill. So, ah ran.

Her name was Carol. She was a former student of the Professor's who was comin' back for a reunion/get-together type thing with Scott and Jean. Ah used ta hear her voice in mah head; confusion soon transformed ta sadness, which eventually transformed ta hate. Hate for me. Ah put her in mah head and I had no way to get her out. Then one day, she just - disappeared.

It's days like these, when the rain cleanses the earth and everything begins anew, that I love. Maybe that's why ah chose today. Maybe that's why ah'm choosin' ta get help. Maybe that's why, Ah'm here.

Ms. Darkholme, you said that ah needed ta sign some papers? Can this "Brotherhood of Mutants" really help me?
A/N: Ok, that's it. Didn't exactly end up where I thought it was going to, but oh well - it's decent at best. *le sigh* R&R please ^_~
