Title: White Canvas

Summary: Hana Lagrand knows three things: one, lineage should never define who you are; two, her father's past is a secret she'll never uncover; and three, her parents will never force her to do anything. But, in a blink of an eye, all of it went to the trashcan when her father demanded she study abroad at Ouran High School in Japan. Now, everything she ever knew were wrong.

"Dear, do you think this is the best option for Hana?"

Hideyoshi Lagrand sighed, his grey eyes dulled as he looked outside the window, where Hana was painting a canvas inside the garden.

Iris, his wife, pinned her gaze at him and despite Hideyoshi's height advantage by a few inches, he did not dare face her. He did not dare to look at her narrowed green eyes nor her entire displeased face, which was further emphasized by her red hair in a French bun.

Hideyoshi sighed once again and finally looked at his wife softly.

"She needs to learn some things, Iris."

"And sending her to Japan with him there is a lesson?" Iris eyed him with disbelief. "Are you sure you're ready for that?"

Hideyoshi closed his eyes. "Hana meeting one of them means our inevitable confrontation, I know."

Iris' eyes widened at his words. "You're throwing her to the sharks, Hideyoshi! Do you even have an idea of what you'll do to her?" she hissed.

Hideyoshi nodded, not even uttering a word.

Silence reigned in the study room. Iris turned her eyes at the floor, posture slumped, and he could only watch as his wife gave up the argument.

Finally, Iris looked at him, hands slightly trembling. "Why?" she whispered.

Hideyoshi turned to the window again, looking at the clear blue sky.

"Because," he started. "she needs to learn the truth, and Ouran possess the answers she demands."
