A/N: Hey there. So, this is the first Heroes fanfiction I've written/submitted and well... I thought I'd try it out. I'll admit, Heroes was the first fandom I got completely involved in and I was amazed by it. Anyway, this story is an OC piece, but its set to the events of the series except I've put an AU future in. So feel free to critise/praise it. Enjoy (or not).
Danielle's breath was laboured as she ran, each step sending up sprays of water as they came into contact with the wet ground. Sirens rang around her and their lights coated the tall, dark building of the urban jungle in orange.
She turned sharply, her feet nearly slipping on the slick ground. Her hands slipped on the rough brick wall as she scrambled to stable herself, the sharp points digging into her palm. Fighting an urge to cry from pain, she bit her lip and molded herself against the wall. Slowing her breathing, she let herself blend into the shadows.
Armed men soon came into her line of sight and she gasped slightly. Danielle felt energy build up inside her and she shut her eyes, willing it back. She couldn't afford to give herself up; she couldn't afford to seem like a threat. It was bad enough that her kind were already seen as... different... weird... freaks. A tear paved its way down her face, blue light glistening within it.
'No... Don't lose control...' Danielle thought to herself, fist clenching.
Slowly, her body started to pulse with a blue light.
'No, stop it...'
"Hey, she's over there!" shouted a voice.
Danielle was mentally slapping herself.
"No! Keep away!" she heard her voice croak, sore from lack of use. She curled into a ball, her back sliding down the wall, leaving scratches in their wake.
"Get the tranq! She's about to go!" a voice called, a slight panic in his voice.
The blue light which enveloped her body pulsed a little brighter, energy building up to its peak. She couldn't control it any more...
"NO!"
