Everything was going to be fine.
At least that was what she kept telling to herself over and over again.
Neji was going to rise on his feet, give her his soft but somehow arrogant smile and kept fighting with her.
There was no way that he was gone.
As Tenten eyed the pale boy's body lying down on the soft soil that was painted with dark, rich color of blood and filled with weapons and other people's bodies; she froze. She couldn't breath. Everything was so abstract, so surreal. There was no way that he was gone but everything was pointing to that poisonous idea. Her heart burned, her vision became blurry and she just lost control of her mind.
"Tenten! Tenten, what the hell are you doing!" "Come back!" "Tenten, don't!"
She could hear voices shouting at her; screaming, begging her to come back. The ninja didn't know when she started to run towards the boy's body but there she was, pushing and kicking everything that was getting in her way between Neji and her. She needed to know; desperately, hopelessly, anxiously. There were weapons flying around her body -feeling the vibration of the strength that was given to the weapon by its thrower - and adrenalin circulating in her system just as easy as blood, the anonymous screams and bodies falling onto the ground.
This was wrong, not right, absoletuly bad. They were in the middle of a war and she stopped what she should be doing: defending her people and helping her comrades. Neji wouldn't want this, he would be so furious if he knew this. Well, then he would have to tell her himself. He would have to raise from the ground, be very sorry for scaring them that way and then get angry. She would be fine by that, actually more than fine. She would be fantastic.
Once she reached to her destination, the girl knew. She didn't even have to have a glimpse at the boy, he was gone. Naruto and Hinata was nowhere to be seen, although they were just here a second ago. She expected anger to fill her veins and her thoughts, making them vicious and dangerous. None of that happened, her body just felt numb just as her feelings. Sorrow. That was the only thing that her heart felt. The unbearable weight of the sorrow.
She fell down on her knees as tears formed in her wide startled eyes, burning them softly. He was really gone, not coming back. Her shaking hand touched to his forehead where the seal should have been but nothing was there, only his smooth but ice cold skin. He looked peaceful, like he was sleeping softly although his chest wasn't raising. 'Of course,' Tenten thought as the thought left a unpleasant taste in her mouth. 'He is not breathing anymore.' She hugged the boy's body, wrapping her arms to hold him as hard as possible so that he wouldn't slip away and go away from her. That was of course impossible since he was already gone. Her hot tears fell down to his forehead, washing his face as she silently cry. She was pretty loud actually but the strong noise of the war silenced her cries. As everything continued fast and unpredictable, Tenten stayed there and cried herself out until she couldn't breath. There were thoughts filling every corner of her mind: 'Come back. Come back to me. Come back to us. I love you.'
No, everything was not going to be fine but she would be okay by time. Just as he would have wished.
