A/N: I wrote this after being very inspired by something or other and found it among my other various writings and decided to upload it. It was written in a few minutes (like, 20), so it's not perfect but bare with me here. ^^

He was a simple prince. A prince who knew nothing of war. He was innocent. Just a small boy who loved his mother and sister all he could. But he was cast out. Thrown away for being angry. For consulting his father. For wanting the truth. Isn't that what we all seek? The truth? Humanity goes on, searching for truth. That is why we lie. He lied. He lied to everyone he knew. He became a great man, he rose up from what he was.

He was held up on a building of lies. An ugly castle built from his lies. But it shimmered in places, It shimmered from the truth he sought. To most everyone he seemed a man bent on revenge for many things, a man with reason to destroy. But to those who looked close enough, he was a man with a heart broken in a million pieces. A confused man with no idea where to go. A little lost boy stuck in the middle of a storm.

He gained great power, power to control the very Earth. He hid his fake face from the masses. He hid his true face from all. He hid his intentions. He hid his very heart.

Anyone who tried to help him was faced with a thousand barriers of ice. Few made it past those. And the ones who did were able to saw how fragile he really was. How hopeless he was. In the end each and one of the people who tried to help him, were helped by him.

They were convinced they'd made not a mark, frozen in terror at the man he'd become. But in truth they'd shattered his reality. Maybe not completely helped him. Put pulled him closer to the top of the abyss. Gave him incentive for his plan. He sacrificed himself fro the very good of the world, knowing full well that he'll be remembered as the Demon Emperor, The Enemy Of The World. When he saved that very world. While a sword inched forward into his heart, he smiled. While his blood spilled on the regal carpets around him people cheered. While his sister screamed his name, he began to feel at peace. When the last remnants of life left his body, he remembered fond memories. Then his shadowed eyes finally closed, sealing the amethyst orbs away forever in peaceful death that gave the world an era of peace.

"He lied to very end. Not everything was a lie, but forged around one. Right, Lelouch?"

"I suppose you could put it that way."

Most would think we hide behind masks to conceal our true selves, our identity. But the real reason is to see who cares enough to look under it.

A/N: I know some of the thoughts in here aren't very true, but it made it seem more dramatic so I didn't change it. I hope you'll drop a review for me!
