Safe
Simmons bolted awake, feeling disoriented as she glanced quickly at her surroundings. The room being lit only by a small light, causing her to start a bit. She tried to calm her racing heart as she realized just where she was. She glanced down at the makeshift weapon in her hand, a small sharpened piece of wood before she quickly dropped it.
You're safe now, Simmons…
And yet, even as she tried to convince herself, she couldn't help the small sob that escaped her. It all seemed so unbelievable, being back where the sun shone, where she wasn't being chased, where she wasn't alone…
Speaking of not being alone…
She turned her head slightly to see Fitz asleep in a chair next to her. The peaceful look on his face helped to calm her just a fraction of a bit, but even then not by much. She let out a shaky breath, quietly so as to try not to wake him, before she shakily laid her head on his lap.
Even though she knew that she was safe, it still felt sometimes like she was back on that planet, separated from everyone she had loved. It still felt like a dream sometimes, she would think that she would wake up and they would all be gone again. No one had asked her much about what had happened on that planet and for that she was grateful.
I'm just not ready to talk yet… As she thought those words however, she felt a small tear slide down her cheek. Maybe she would never be able to talk about what had happened…
She let out another breath, trying to slow down her breathing so that she could focus on sleep. She knew that sleep would most likely elude her but the least she could do was try.
Even if I'm haunted by nightmares, that's all they are… I'm safe now…
So I am aware that people have most likely done this already and that it is clearly late since tonight is episode 6 but I still felt like I had to get it out there. At least so that people can enjoy reading it. Sorry for the shortness and I have watched episode 5 so I do know what happened with Simmons on the planet but to avoid spoiling people who haven't, and to write it like I would have originally without watching the next episode, I have decided to keep it the way it is. Hope you all enjoyed!
