Fun, exciting, amusing, all those words are supposed to describe your first dance not dreadful and some other depressing words that would wreak my vibe. I went to my first dance on Friday night – which you could tell was not my best experience. My friend, Izzy, shoved me onto the dance floor where many boys and girls were dancing and shaking their butt- mostly overly confident girls- having a good time. As for me I was being pushed and pull being forced to dance against my will!

"Come one Clary why won't you dance, come on its fun!" My friend Izzy wined as we weaved out of the crowd and into the quiet peaceful sidelines were all the loners and weirdoes that were forces to come here.

"Because…" I said stretching the word "because". I waited a few seconds enjoying Maddie whining, wanting me to tell her the real reason before I said, "I said so."

"'Because I said so' is not a answer. " She mused while making air quotes with her fingers.

"Come one, let's go get some nachos or something…" I said completely trying to avoid and change the topic. Luck seemed to be on her side when Izzy led us to the snack table. I got some nachos with extra, extra, cheese!

"Have I mentioned I love cheese?" Izzy's face contorted into a disgusted-about-to-throw-up look and the said:

" Wow Serena you are a cheese-a-holic. I don't know how you can eat that stuff." Maddie stated. I just smiled while putting another cheese-drowned chip in my mouth. I knew how much she hated cheese; we are total opposites.

"You know I am not going to give up, you are going to dance at least once and I am going to do anything to get you to dance!"

"Ugh… I knew you wouldn't drop it," and it was true she wouldn't drop it until she got what she wanted. It was one of the things I liked about her; she fights for what she believes in.

" Yeah, I won't and will get you to dance this is a dance after all!" she said before she stormed off in the dance floor probably putting the puzzle pieces of her plan together. I sighed and went for one of the tables that they allowed students to sit just with my Kindle in hand.

I was just about to sit when, Jace this annoyingly hot guy who sits in front of me in math class, bumped into me. I knew I was falling back and I knew it was going to hurt, but the pain never came I didn't fall. In fact I was in somebody's arms and that somebody was Jace! Annoying, hot, Conceded Jace that i hated so much, that was Izzy,s annoying brother, the person who whispers inappropriate comments in my ear just to annoy me is holding me up and- our eyes locked that was what cut me off my self rambling. I never noticed how beautiful his big and gold eyes were and how his slightly curled long eye lashes touched his cheek when we blinked. There was this comfortable silence that wasn't there before. I always felt weird and an awkward when we were working on class assignments but I know I could stay like this forever and never get tired or uncomfortable. I don't know how long we were standing like that but Jace broke the silence.

"Sorry I didn't see you there" Jace said softly as he started to untangle his hands from me.

" Umm… it's ok I wasn't looking where I was going so… yeah, I was just about to sit, um... here so ok umm… bye," I said to his waving I knew I just made a complete and utterly fool out of myself. I never stuttered and surly never in front of jace I was just about to turn when he said:

" Can I sit with you there is nothing to do here anyway and I am sure my company is needed with my god like look and all,"

"Sure but don't you have a date to suck faces with,"

As we walked to an available seat I became self-conscious about my why do I even care its jace we are talking about. Anyway I had on a emerald green mid-thigh halter dress that scrunched up above the hip, black flats with my white cross-body purse on my small skinny frame. I had my fiery red hair in long messy curls running down my back, I also put on light make up just to bring out my eyes ( even though Izzy objected as much). I did not what to dress too dressy but still dressy I would wear my usual jeans and a t-shirt but it is homecoming and my parents and Izzy made me and said, and I quote: "you have to experience the full 'high school experience' ".

We sat down and I realized we had nothing to talk about. The awkward silence was back again so I tried to talk about books or something.

" So do you like books?" He looked up and made a face. I guess that's a no. Ugh I must sound like a nerd.

"You don't sound like a nerd,"

"What I said that out loud!" He nodded. Oh. My. Freaking. Gosh! I can't believe that. I am making a big fool out of my side. I sighed loudly and put my head down and mumble something unintelligent. I was getting very awkward and frustrating so I just stood and walked
