It all started when Limburg received a text message from Noord Brabant, this is what it said:

'Ik ben net aangereden, ik kom er zo snel mogenlijk aan' (literal) translation: I've just been hit by a car, I'm coming as quickly as possible'

Hit by a car?! Limburg thought, dailing Brabant's phone number

She was suprized when Brabant picked up the phone sounding perfectly cheerful

'Limburg!' she said, 'you know that talking on the phone while driving isn't allowed, don't you?'

'But...' Limburg started.

'You also know that I don't care' Brabant finished for her, laughing. So, what's up?

'Uh, Limburg hesitated, are you okay?'

'Yeah! Why wouldn't I be?' was the responce she received.

'You just sent me a message saying you've been hit by a car!' she yelled

'No I didn't, Brabant said, I said I just left and was coming your way'

'Yes you did! Limburg yelled, becoming very annoyed.

Brabant, noticing this, decided to check what she had sent and then she understood and started laughing.

'What's so funny? Limburg wanted to know, are you making fun of me again? Aren't you tired of your jokes?!'

Brabant was still laughing and only managed to say: 'you... I... this...'

'I'm waiting... Limburg responded'

'It was an accident, Brabant said, you see, 'aanrijden' means: 'to leave' (by car) in my dialect.'

'oh... Limburg said, well you should have known that I wouldn't get that!'

Deciding that it wasn't a good idea to make a joke about Limburgers (no, not a kind of burger, a person from Limburg XD) Brabant just said: 'isn't it funny that to people from the same country, even the same part of the country (the south, in case you didn't know) can misunderstand each other sometimes?'

'Yes, very funny, Limburg said sarcastically, I was worried'

'Well, don't worry, if I'd been hit by a car I couldn't have texted you, I have to go now, there is more traffic on the road here, houdoe!' She said and disconnected the phone before Limburg could ask what 'houdoe' meant, she guessed it meant 'bye' (it does, she's right :))

'The only way I can describe that conversation is: fail' Brabant thought, smiling and driving towards the south to 'visit' (read: annoy) her 'friend'

AN: what was that?! Well, it's something that just popped into my head when someone on a forum about Dutch dialects and accents (an English speaking person wanted to know about them, and I was curious what people had to say :)) mentioned 'aanrijden' and I thought it would be funny...

if you guys like this I could continue this and make it a series of one shots, or write what happens when Brabant arrives, whatever you want :)
