TEAM FORTRESS 2: HIGURASHI VERSION
The NEO-NUMBERS were in the Terminal, walking towards Professor Takada's lab.
"So, what do you think Takada-hakase wants with us?" Michiru asked curiously while skipping alongside Hana.
"I can't say..." Hana replied.
"He probably wants us to test another one of his inventions," Yokoshima suggested.
"And we're still going?" Daichi asked incredulously. Professor Takada had a reputation around ARMOR. Most of his inventions tend to blow up once activated.
"He's one of our superiors and it was an order," Shogo reasoned.
"I still don't like the idea of something blowing up in my face, OK? Like that gun he made me. Seriously, I was deaf for days," Daichi complained.
"Man up, Daichi," Shinichi ordered.
"Yeah, it could be fun," grinned Yokoshima.
"You seem oddly quiet," Chiaki said to Battler.
"Well, yeah. I'm not sure what to expect from Takada-hakase, to be honest," Battler said.
"He's ARMOR's resident mad scientist," described Shinichi. "But he's a good guy. The stuff he makes that does work has been pretty useful."
"And the things that don't work blow up," Daichi added, causing Battler to gulp nervously.
"I'm starting to have second thoughts about this," said Battler.
"Relax. Our bodies are built to handle that can of trauma," Shinichi reassured him.
"I'm not worried about our bodies. I'm more worried about our sanity," Daichi mumbled.
"Like Shinichi said, man up," Shogo reiterated.
They finally reached the entrance of Prof. Takada's lab and spotted Yuji standing in front of the closed doors.
"It's Yuji!" Michiru beamed as she glomped the Manakyte.
"Hey, Michiru," Yuji greeted the Mantis Cyborg back with a smile.
"Did ya miss me?" she asked hopefully with eager eyes.
"Of course. How could I not miss a cutie like you?"
"Lemme guess, you got the same call from Takada-hakase too," Shinichi assumed.
"Sure did, and it sounded urgent," Yuji replied.
"Yeah, I wanted to bail too but I was outvoted," stated Daichi.
"Hey, Dai. How's Levi doing?" Yuji greeted.
"She's doing well," Daichi nodded. "She's a bit challenging to deal with. A bit high-maintenance, but if I can deal with my team I can deal with her just fine."
"Shogo, Yokoshima, how are you guys?" Yuji greeted, fist-bumping the two of them.
"Fine as always, sir," Shogo replied. "As for Lucifer, you don't have to worry. She is a fine and faithful wife, happy as always."
"Fine and dandy," agreed Yokoshima. "Asmo-chan and I are thinking of having kids."
"That's great," Yuji smiled.
"Tiny Yokoshimas running around," Daichi shuddered.
"So, any idea why Takada-hakase called us? We think it must be because he wants us to test something," Shinichi asked Yuji.
"Which is a good reason to bail and grab lunch!" Daichi chimed in.
"Not sure, but the mystery's part of the fun, isn't it?" Yuji smiled.
"Not everyone likes surprises, you know," Hana remarked.
The door to the lab opened. The first concern was the alarms and Takada stepping backwards out of the lab with a fire extinguisher as he sprayed foam inside before the doors closed.
"OK, back to the drawing board," sighed Takada. He was a man who was a couple decades their senior, with spiked brown hair. He wore a black jumpsuit with blue boots, matching gloves, and a white labcoat over the ensemble. Over his eyes he wore a hi-tech blue visor connecting two identical hi-tech earphones that fit over his ears. He noticed the agents standing in the hallway and grinned widely as he greeted them, "Oh, you're here! You got my message!"
"Is everything alright in there Takada-hakase?" Shinichi asked, referring to the lab.
"Just a bit of a mishap, that's all," Takada waved it off.
Daichi whispered to Battler, "Want to bail?"
Battler replied, "I'm considering it."
"Follow me! This is going to be fun!" Takada grinned as he led the group away from the lab. Shinichi took a moment to gaze at the closed doors before he followed the rest of the group.
"Today we're doing a VR-simulator training!" Takada declared as he brought the group to a large room. The chamber was round and lining the walls were glass pods.
"What is this place?" Yokoshima asked.
"Oh, this is just the place if you want to have VR-training," Takada answered. "This was based on a contraption that some of our enemies used back when we were in the Teen Titans."
"The Gamemasters, right? I read that file," Shinichi said.
"Oh, so you did. Well, to make a long story short, you'll all be playing a video game. Only, you'll not be playing in front of a screen. You'll actually be in the game," Takada told them. He saw a myriad of expressions on their faces; neutral, excitement, curiosity and even anxiety.
"And you built this?" Daichi asked.
"Yeah, it was my idea. Warren approved and everything!" Takada grinned.
"So, how does it work?" Yuji asked.
"Well, you'll all be sleeping in the pods. Each pod has a helmet inside that will scan your brainwaves and the pod will scan your bodies to make a complete identical avatar of yourselves in the game. This way, your avatar will feel like your real body," Takada explained.
"Yeah, I don't feel like having machines mess with my head," Battle spoke up.
"Same here," sympathized Shinichi.
"Don't worry! It's perfectly safe!" Takada insisted.
"Yeah, with your track record, that's not really reassuring," Daichi remarked.
"I say we give it a go," Yuji stated.
"Seriously?" Daichi asked.
"The Director wouldn't have approved if it wasn't safe. Plus, it could be fun," Yuji smiled.
"I wanna play! I wanna play!" Michiru waved her arm excitedly.
"Me too! Me too!" Yokoshima added.
Daichi and Battler sighed.
"So, what kind of game will it be, sir?" Shogo asked.
"Oh, it's a popular Multiplayer game called Team Fortress 2. Now, get in the pods so we can begin," Takada instructed. The NEO-NUMBERS and Yuji each picked an open pod and laid down upon the cushioned interior. That was when the helmets came down upon their heads. A holographic control panel appeared in front of Takada as he began typing in commands.
"Alright, is everyone comfortable?" Takada asked the NEO-NUMBERS. He heard various responses of affirmative. "OK, let's begin!"
The pods closed and the helmets' visors came down.
"Performing Brain Scan..." the computer started as the helmet scanned their brain.
"Ooh, tingly..." Yokoshima giggled.
"Performing Body Scan..." A light passed over the each of them in a grid-like pattern.
"Brain Scan Complete. Body Scan Complete," the computer concluded.
"Alright, game start!" Takada started as he pressed the big START button.
The NEO-NUMBERS and Yuji closed their eyes. Then, they were suddenly blasted by a rainbow of colors. They didn't understand what was going on. Battler screamed in fright while Michiru and Yokoshima cried out in excitement.
And then everything went black...
"Ugh...OK...I already knew this was a bad idea..." Daichi groaned. He looked down at his hands and found they were wearing black cutoff gloves. He looked around and found himself in a room that was bare. There was a bed and a mirror hanging on the wall, but beyond that there was nothing. "OK, let's see what Hell I've woken up too."
Daichi stepped in front of the mirror and blinked at his clothing. He was wearing a red sleeveless t-shirt with camouflage fatigues, and black combat boots. He had a pair of headphones hanging from his neck and was wearing a cap on his head.
"What am I wearing?" Daichi asked and he found that he had a nametag pinned to his shirt. "'Scout'? That's what I'm called here?" He looked around. He didn't see anyone else. "Guess I need to get out here to find the others." He stepped out of the room and into the hallway. He saw arrows painted on the wall. Shrugging, he followed the arrows.
"I really love your lab coat, Hana-chan. It really fits you," Michiru complimented.
"I think that suit suits you as well, Michiru," Hana replied.
"Oh, hey you two," Daichi greeted as he found Hana and Michiru in a room that he assumed to be the command centre.
"Oh, hey Daichi," Michiru greeted. Daichi looked at what she was wearing. It was a red suit with white shirt and tie. But that wasn't what got his attention.
"Michiru, why are you wearing a ski mask?" Daichi asked. Michiru was wearing a ski mask over her head, but holes were cut in the mask to let out her twin tails. That was how he recognized her.
"Coz I'm the Spy!" Michiru pointed to her nametag proudly. It spelled 'SPY' in big letters.
"And you're the doctor," Daichi said Hana. She was wearing a white shirt with a red tie under a double-breasted white long-coat with two sets of black buttons, red gloves, white pants and red boots. She was also wearing glasses.
"Medic, actually," Hana corrected, pointing to her nametag.
"Where are the others anyway?" Daichi asked.
"They're probably just waking up right now," Hana checked her watch.
Daichi looked at their command centre. There was a map hanging on the wall and a plaque with the name of their base.
"Fort N2," Daichi read. "Heh, no points for creativity but not bad."
The structure they were in looked like it was made of wood. There was a table and filing cabinets, There was also an old PA speaker hanging from the corner of the ceiling.
"Hey guys! I found you!" Yokoshima exclaimed as he finally arrived in the command centre. He was wearing a red t-shirt and matching black pants with black combat boots. Over his torso he was wearing a black kevlar vest. What made them look at him with concern were the grenades he had strapped to his chest. He was also wearing an eyepatch over his left eye. "Check me out, I'm a pirate!"
"You're not a pirate, Yokoshima," Daichi retorted.
"Sure I am! I got the eyepatch to prove it!" Yokoshima flipped up the eyepatch he was wearing to prove his point.
"Check your nametag. You're something called the 'Demoman'," Daichi pointed.
"A nametag!? Cool!" Yokoshima looked at where the nametag was pinned to his vest.
"So, where are the other members of our team?" Daichi asked.
That was when a male figure in a red jumpsuit, with black gloves and boots, entered the command centre. He had a set of grenades strapped diagonally across his chest. What freaked everyone out was the gas mask he wore.
"Gah! Kill it! Kill it!" Yokoshima pointed and prepared to chuck a grenade.
"Not in here, moron!" Daichi smacked the grenade out of Yokoshima's hand. Michiru caught it in midair. The man in the gas mask raised his hands in a peaceful gesture, trying to say something. He finally ripped the gas mask off his face, revealing who he was.
"Battler!?" the four NEO-NUMBERS exclaimed when they saw the face of their red-haired comrade.
"You can't talk in this thing!" Battler complained as he dropped the gas mask.
"OK, so who are you supposed to be?" Daichi asked.
"Something called the 'Pyro' according to my nametag," Battler replied.
"Funny, with a name like 'Pyro' we thought it would be Yuji," Daichi said.
They then heard heavy footsteps as Chiaki entered the room next. He was dressed exactly like Yokoshima, but without the eyepatch. He also had an ammunition belt hanging diagonally in front of him. What everyone was staring at was the large minigun he was holding at his side.
"Wow, Chiaki's packing some serious firepower there," Battler whispered to Daichi who nodded.
"Aw...I wanted the biggest gun..." frowned Yokoshima.
"Now, now, Yokoshima. It's not the size of the weapon that matters, but how you use it," advised Yuji as he entered. He was in a red t-shirt with black overalls, yellow gloves and matching yellow boots. A pair of safety goggles hung from his neck. He was also wearing a yellow hard hat.
Chiaki was the Heavy and Yuji was the Engineer.
"Exactly," Shogo agreed as he came into the room, carrying a sniper rifle. He was wearing a red shirt with a black vest, brown slacks and brown leather shoes. He was wearing a pair of orange-tinted shades and a stetson.
"Nice hat, Shogo," Yokoshima complimented.
"Thanks, came with the gun," Shogo said, showing off his sniper rifle.
"So, 'Sniper', am I right?" Daichi guessed.
"That's me," Shogo confirmed, pointing at his nametag.
"Am I the last one here?" Shinichi asked as he finally joined the group. He was wearing a red double-breasted jacket with camouflage fatigues and black combat had grenades strapped to his chest and also had a dark green soldier helmet on his head.
The nametag he wore identified him as the 'Soldier'.
"So, does that mean we're all here?" Battler asked.
"Let's do a headcount," Shinichi suggested.
Shinichi (Red Soldier)
Shogo (Red Sniper)
Hana (Red Medic)
Michiru (Red Spy)
Daichi (Red Scout)
Battler (Red Pyro)
Chiaki (Red Heavy)
Yokoshima (Red Demoman)
Yuji (Red Engineer)
"Greetings, Red Team," Professor Takada greeted, his voice coming out from the speakers.
"Takada-hakase, is that you?" Yokoshima asked.
"That's right, and I can see you too," Takada replied. "So, how do you like your classes?"
"I'm wondering why these classes specifically," Shinichi answered.
"Well, the game chooses the class best suited for each of you. Also, at this time, please check your inventory. Open your menu by swiping the air in front of you with your index finger," Takada instructed.
"Hey, look at this," Yokoshima smiled as he pressed on his weapon icon and it materialized in his hand. "Check this out. A grenade launcher."
"Well, as the Demoman, you are equipped with weapons to cause large amounts of destruction. Your inventory also includes plastic explosives as well as grenades," Takada explained.
"Um...Takada-hakase...is it really a good idea to give him explosives?" Daichi asked warily, remembering the incident involving the tank.
"Relax, this is all a game. You can't really die in a game," Takada told them. He muttered, "Except in Sword Art Online. Seriously, what were they thinking?"
Battler was now equipped with a flamethrower. "Guess this is why I'm the Pyro, huh?" In the real world, he could breathe fire. So the class fit him well.
"Hm, guess most of my weapons are tools. I have a hammer, wrench, and screwdriver. And a shotgun too," Yuji looked at his inventory.
"And Chiaki's weapon is obviously that minigun," Daichi said. He had seen his inventory and wasn't very impressed since he only had a shotgun and a baseball bat.
"I like your rocket launcher," Michiru complimented Shinichi.
"Thanks. So, what are you armed with?" Shinichi asked. Michiru grinned and pulled open her blazer to reveal she had knives, knives and more knives inside. "Cool knives."
"Thanks," Michiru grinned. "I also got this sweet pistol."
"So I'm the 'Medic'. That means I can heal people. Wait, my medi-gun can drain health from my opponents in order to recharge it, and then I can transfer that health to my allies," Hana read as she equipped herself with the device. "I like this role already."
"Good, now since this is your first time in this game, you're going to need to get used to your weapons. In half an hour your first practice match will begin. Get ready," Takada told them.
"What's the objective?" Shogo asked.
"Oh, your objective is to defend your fort. Now good luck and have fun."
"So, our objective is to defend our fort. Sounds simple enough," Shinichi read.
"Nothing is ever that simple," Daichi frowned as he folded his arms.
"Indeed," Hana agreed as she adjusted her glasses.
"Well Takada-hakase did tell us to familiarize ourselves with our weapons," Yuji reminded.
"Your orders, leader?" Shogo asked Shinichi.
"Once you've already familiarized with your weapons, go out there and get into position. Michiru, stick with Hana. She's our healer so she's going to need a bodyguard," Shinichi instructed.
"I do that all the time anyway," Michiru flicked her switchblade.
"Yuji, what can the Engineer class do?" Shinichi asked.
"According to my skill set, I can set up turrets for perimeter defenses and dispensers to provide health packs and extra ammo," Yuji said.
"Good, then set up turrets and stay safe to provide health packs and extra ammo on the field. Shogo, you're the Sniper. Go look for higher ground that gives you a full view of the battlefield but keeps you out of sight."
"Roger, sir!" Shogo saluted.
"Daichi, you're the Scout. Keep your eyes open and signal us for any trouble," Shinichi ordered and Daichi grinned as he shouldered his baseball bat. "Chiaki and Yokoshima, you guys have the biggest weapons so support us with covering fire. Yokoshima, try not to accidentally kill yourself and anyone else on our team."
Everyone cast serious glares on Yokoshima.
"Hey, you guys still haven't forgiven me about the tank!?" cried out Yokoshima, offended.
"What about me?" Battler asked.
"Burn everything that isn't an ally. Make sure your radios work too. Alright, time to get out there," said Shinichi.
"Let's go meet the competition," Daichi grinned as they marched out onto the battlefield. Shinichi watched the gate of their fort, waiting for the enemy. With their training and experience, they had this game in the bag.
The gate opened and the Blue Team came charging in. The Red Team were suddenly taken by surprise.
"Mion!?" Shinichi shouted as he spotted Mion dressed in a Blue Soldier uniform and leading the charge. Dressed in the garb of the Blue Medic was Hanyuu and Chiaki had to admit the glasses she wore made her look cute. Keiichi was the Blue Scout and was already coming at them with a shotgun in hand, splitting apart from the Blue Team to find cover. Satoshi was the Blue Sniper and also split from his team to find higher ground himself.
The Blue Team's Pyro and Heavy were Satan and Rena respectively. Both of them wielded their weapons with glee. Rena immediately opened fire, blasting at everything in sight with her minigun. Shinichi quickly took cover behind a wall. Satan was blasting with her flamethrower and laughing with glee as she burned everything in her path.
Satoko was the Demogirl of the Blue Team and Shion was the Engineer. While lacking a spy, they were armed and dangerous. The Blue Team went on the hunt for their Red counterparts.
Shinichi's radio beeped and he answered, "Hello?"
"I just saw our opponents, Shinichi. Is it really who I think they are?" Shogo asked from the other end as he watched through his scope.
"Yup, the Blue Team are the Gaming Club," said Shinichi.
"Heh, this will be easy," Daichi snickered over the radio.
"Don't underestimate them guys," warned Shinichi as he gripped his AK-47.
Daichi rolled his eyes. He spotted Satan who had wandered into his territory. Just one good shot from his shotgun and she would be eliminated. He stepped out carefully to sneak behind her, levelling his shotgun for the back of his head.
"Hey, Dai!" Yokoshima called as he stood behind Daichi.
FUCK!
"You idiot!" Daichi shouted as Satan turned and pointed her flamethrower at him.
"You know, if you were aiming to do a sneak attack, you shouldn't make noise," she commented.
"Yeah, I know that!" Daichi snapped.
"Don't worry, Dai! I'll save you!" shouted Yokoshima as he fired his grenade launcher.
"Wait, Yokoshima! Don't-!"
Daichi respawned back at base and growled, "That teamkilling fucktard!"
Yokoshima saw his kill screen and grimaced. He managed to kill Satan but he also got Daichi too.
"They are so gonna be so pissed at me when they respawn," Yokoshima muttered. He received a bullet hole in the forehead.
From his perch, Satoshi grinned as he looked through the scope of his sniper rifle, "Headshot."
Yokoshima respawned back at base, "What the hell just happened?"
Shinichi and Chiaki respawned moments after Yokoshima.
"So, who was it that got you?" Shinichi asked Chiaki.
"...Hanyuu..." Chiaki confessed.
Chiaki had his minigun aimed at Hanyuu but couldn't bring himself to pull the trigger. It would be a decision that would cost him as she had no qualms. She drained all his health with her medi-gun and apologized.
"So, who killed you then?" Yokoshima asked Shinichi.
"It was Rena-chan," Shinichi confessed.
"Couldn't shoot her, could you?"
"No way! I have nightmares about shooting my girlfriend in the head! I didn't ever wanna do it again, even if this is a game!"
"It doesn't seem like she shares your sentiment," Chiaki observed.
"Rena-chan got me with her minigun. Honestly, I now understand why she's the Blue Team's Heavy." The way she had smiled before she filled him with lead still filled him with dread.
Yuji just set up a dispenser to aid his comrades. It would provide them with health and extra ammo. He also set up turrets to guard the dispenser from being tampered with. However, he didn't count on Satoko coming out of nowhere and blasting her grenade launcher. She got hit by the turrets but the dispenser and turrets were destroyed moments later.
"Motherfucker!" shouted Yuji. Satan and Rena both stepped out and aimed their weapons at him. "Satie?"
"Sorry, Onii-sama," Satan apologized.
"No, you're not sorry," Yuji raised his hands.
"If it's any consolation, this has been pretty fun," smiled Rena.
"Hey guys!" Keiichi came up to his two teammates. "I see you guys caught Yuji."
"It was easy," Satan smiled.
"Yes, so is this," Keiichi replied before he literally stabbed Satan in the back.
"Keiichi-kun!?" Rena gasped before a bullet was buried in her forehead. As the two girls fell, Yuji blinked and saw Keiichi's appearance shimmer and change into that of Michiru.
"Camouflage," Michiru grinned. "A special ability of the Spy Class."
"Nice, and you got yourself a double kill," Yuji nodded in approval. "Wait, aren't you supposed to be guarding Hana?"
"Oh, she can take care of herself."
"GAH!" Mion grunted as Hana stabbed her in the back with a huge syringe needle
"Don't worry. This won't hurt very much," Hana reassured before she pulled on the plunger and sucked up the rest of Mion's health. The Blue Soldier fell as Hana appraised the HP she had taken from her opponent. "And now to put this to good use."
Shogo was looking through his scope and did not notice Satoko sneaking up behind him with a grenade in hand. However, her footsteps were not all that silent as they caused the wooden floor to creak. Suddenly, Shogo turned around and aimed his sniper rifle right between the Demogirl's eyes.
"Ulp!" Satoko gulped.
"Nice try," Shogo replied as he pulled the trigger. Satoko fell but so did the grenade she intended to use.
Shogo noticed the pin was gone.
"Oh, shit."
Shogo respawned back at base and facepalmed before he headed back out into the battlefield.
Shinichi wasn't going to be careless this time. Looking around, he made sure to be careful. He made sure not to get taken by surprise. He backed up against the wall and then bumped into Michiru, their Red Spy.
"Oh, Michiru," Shinichi lowered his gun. "I nearly shot you there."
"It's a good thing you didn't," Michiru giggled.
"Well, I'm all alone. I could use your help," he said.
"Don't worry. I'll watch your back," Michiru promised.
That was when Shinichi's radio came on and he answered, "Red Soldier here."
"Shinichi, this is Hana. I'm with Michiru and we're currently heading back with some stolen HP to share," Hana informed.
Shinichi's eyes widened and he turned around to see Michiru. Her appearance shimmered as she was replaced by Rika who was dressed as the Blue Spy. Her ski mask was cut in the back to let out her hair and she had a pistol aimed at him.
"Rika..." Shinichi muttered.
"Told you I'd watch your back. Sorry, Onii-chan, but I'm here to win."
"So am I!" Shinichi sidestepped the bullet as it left the pistol before he spun on his heel and elbowed her in the gut. He then grabbed hold of her arm and flipped her on her back. Taking out his own sidearm, he pointed it at her forehead as she stared up at him in shock. "So, any last words?"
"Just two: Swiss Cheese," she answered, earning a perplexed look from the Red Soldier.
"What is that supposed to-?"
RATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA!
Shinichi ended up riddled by bullets courtesy of a minigun.
"Son of a bitch..." Shinichi grumbled before he collapsed. Rika got back up and looked to Rena who was coming towards her.
"Thanks for the save," Rika said gratefully.
"Are you sure Shin-kun won't be mad I did that?" Rena asked.
"He's a good sport. Plus, he would've done the same to you."
"Not so sure about that..." Rena muttered.
Keiichi and Shion screamed as they both fled from Battler who was laughing maniacally as he fired his flamethrower at them.
"THIS IS THE MOST FUN I'VE HAD IN YEARS!" yelled Battler as he continued the chase his victims with his flamethrower.
Finally, the match was over and the two teams reassembled in the Red Team's base.
"So, did you guys have fun?" Takada asked.
"Takada-hakase, how come you didn't tell us you got our friends to help?" Shinichi asked.
"It would've been nice to know we would be fighting against them," added Yuji.
"And where would the fun be in that? I just thought it would be a nice surprise," Takada answered.
"So, did he tell you guys we would be fighting?" Michiru asked.
"He just told us we would be playing a game. I couldn't miss the chance even if I wanted to," Mion grinned.
"But aren't you like the Head of the Sonozaki Clan?" Battler asked.
"Oh, please. I need to unwind too," Mion shrugged.
"Shin-kun, I'm sorry for shooting you all those times," Rena apologized.
"Really? Are you sure you didn't enjoy it even a little bit?" Shinichi accused playfully.
"Well, it was fun," Rena admitted.
"Are you kidding? It was a blast," Satan agreed. "I can't wait to do this again."
"I still don't get how you guys managed to get the drop on us. We've been training at this sort of thing for years," Daichi said.
"Well, you might have military training under your belt, but we're experts at improvising," Satoko boasted proudly. They had outsmarted a mercenary group a few years back.
"So, is this the end of the game?" Satoshi asked.
"You had fun playing sniper, didn't you?" Shogo asked.
"I have to admit it's a new experience," Satoshi replied.
"Who says we gotta stop playing anyway?" Mion cocked her rifle. "How about another match?"
"How does that sound, Takada-hakase?" Shinichi asked.
"Sounds good to me! Let's start another match!"
The game resumed with both sides trying to kill each other. Strategies were formulated on the fly, then ignored as everyone just winged it. Some accidental teamkilling did occur (Yokoshima) from time to time, but overall it wasn't a bad experience. The Gaming Club even applied their philosophy of winning at any cost, even if it meant playing dirty. As their opponents were trained child soldiers, they had no choice but to fight dirty.
Shinichi still refused to attack Rena or Satan. But that did not mean everyone else got the same mercy. Using his weapons, he killed the others and took their weapons as trophies. Battler just went nuts and was avoided due to how scary he was when there were no consequences when he burnt someone to death.
Rena didn't seem to have any restrain in the game world as she fired her minigun. It also seemed like she had infinite ammo. That was probably because she always fired within range of a Blue dispenser to reload her ammo and health.
Battler had no self control whatsoever. Give him a flamethrower, and he just went nuts. Nobody was safe. His teammates avoided him as much as they did Yokoshima. The difference was that they avoided Battler out of fear while they avoided Yokoshima so they wouldn't be killed due to his incompetence.
Like Shinichi, Chiaki couldn't bring himself to kill Hanyuu either. Unfortunate for him, Hanyuu had no reservations in setting him up to be killed by one of her teammates. He either got shot in the head by Satoshi or just knifed in the throat by Rika. One time, she even distracted him with a kiss before draining his HP.
Rika and Michiru were both competing to be the best spy. Disguising themselves as members of the opposing teams, they accumulated quite the kill-count with assassination moves, sneak attacks, and just taking their opponents out by surprise.
Yuji one time got killed by Keiichi who bashed him in the skull with his baseball bat. He got his revenge when he blasted Keiichi with his turrets and missile launchers.
Bottom line: it was just a friendly game. There may or may not be any prizes or rewards for the winners, but all that did not matter when having fun with friends and killing them in a game.
Oh, and Takada got some interesting combat data as well.
KRC: I wrote this for fun. Just something that was inspired from watching TF2: Analysis Anarchy.
