Laurel Lance needed a night off, she had enough of the boring paperwork tonight, God she hated the paperwork of her job as the District Attorney. She did like some of the perks that came with being the DA including the steady paycheck, the questioning of suspects, and the public spotlight every now then. But tonight, she felt like she just needed to blow off some steam and she decided to take Felicity up on her offer for a late night wine testing. Meeting their usual place, she saw her waving her hand openly in the air like a school girl idiot. Oddly though this made Laurel smile a little.
"You know I'm not blind, far from it actually." Laurel said as the strutted towards Felicity before sitting down.
"Well forgive me for being excited, I just want get started they got whole collection Merlots I've wanted try." Felicity said with her usual peppy enthusiasm.
"I'm all for wine tasting, but lets keep it mildly mature ok?" Laurel said with her classic smirk.
Much to her surprise, Felicity was the right about the merlots were delicious particularly the 1986 one. Laurel, found it odd to be enjoying herself like this after all these years and to even feel like she had a friend ironically with Felicity; not because she tried to kill her once or twice but because she was the wife of her dead boyfriend's doppelganger. Thinking about her Oliver made her sad, but it brought up the next topic of their conversation.
"So how are you and Oliver lately?" Laurel asked.
"We're good, why do you ask?" Felicity replied.
"No reason just curious." Laurel said while shrugging.
"You know I've never asked what was your Oliver like?" Felicity asked.
"My Ollie, why do you ask? Laurel said a little surprised and confused.
"No reason just curious." Felicity said throwing back Laurel's earlier comment.
Laurel paused for moment, before taking a huge gulp of wine.
"My Ollie, my ... Ollie. My Ollie, was very different from yours." Laurel said.
"That's not vague at all." Felicity said sarcastically disappointed.
"He was a jerk! Laurel said suddenly. "He was a loud, stubborn, and opinionated jerk; especially when came to politics that man had an opinion about any "ism" there was." Laurel relented.
"Whoa, sorry I didn't mean to hit a nerve." Felicity said apologetically.
"No it's fine. I just don't try to think about him very much, considering how it ended between us." Laurel said sadly.
"Guess things ended badly for you and your Oliver as badly as did for my Oliver and our world's Laurel?" Felicity guessed.
"No, nothing like that. My Ollie and me ... we fought sure ... probably a little too much sometimes but ... but I ... I always knew he loved me ... only me. I made it sound like was a pain in the ass and he was but he was also the very definition of bleeding heart liberal. He cared more about people than anyone had ever seen and he always saw the best in everyone ... even me." Laurel reminisced.
"You must miss him a lot?" Felicity asked.
"Understatement of the year." Laurel replied sadly.
"I didn't mean to bring up anything painful, I was just genuinely curious is all and ... I thought you might want to reminisce is all." Felicity explained trying to comfort Laurel by touch her hand.
"It's fine." Laurel stated bluntly.
Suddenly, Laurel received a private message from her office assistant said she had a visitor. Laurel told Felicity she had to leave as this was important, but Felicity insisted to let her to pay the check as an apology. Laurel agreed.
Laurel meet her assistant and asked about the visitor he said his name was Jason Bard. Walking into her office, Laurel noticed her visitor. He was a least 2 feet taller than, he had dark brown hair but as the light hit his hair she noticed it had an auburn hue to it. He had a nice face more than nice actually, he was fit too despite the suit he was wearing; Laurel admitted to herself that he was hot.
"Hi, Laurel, it's been a long time." Jason said.
"Yes it has, Jason." Laurel said. Although she had absolutely no idea, who this man was.
Author's Notes: I've always thought that at some point Laurel would meet someone from her doppelganger's life that Team Arrow and her family wouldn't know about and I'll got into details as to why they didn't know about Jason later on. As for Jason Bard in the comics he is a Gotham City Police Detective and has even been romantically involved to Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl/Oracle.
