The Preposterously Perilous Journey of a Zabini

Prologue

The morning of August fifth was bright and starch. Perscila Stane felt the silence of the Zabini Manor prick at her with astubborn insistence. Usually it was never this quiet; with either the high pitched laughter a of toddlers, or LadyZabini's
silk voice, almost always having a guest over to chatter with.

No, this morning wasinfectiously quiet. After arriving hereonly twenty minutes earlier than usual Perscila had believed that perhaps today the family was just out together. It was very common that Lord Zabini loved to dote on his family.

The birth of Blaise and Tabitha Zabini made Lord Zabini jolly. The two were spoiled rotten. Soon after the twins reached three years old, Perscila was employedto take care of the chores throughout the manor. Despite having of maintenancestaff
offifteen, it seemed Lady Zabini was very uptight about keeping a clean home.

Usually on Saturdays, the twins could be seen running around the house, or sat somewhere playing games or coloring, but the silence was strange. A type of strange the unfurled something of the pit of the old woman's stomach.

Holding her wand in a defensive manner, Perscila carefully walked out of the right wing of the manor, the sector she was paid to clean, and to the part of the home where the Zabini family was likely to retire. As she passed the kitchen, she found it odd
/that no house elves could be heard scurrying around the kitchen, frantically trying to please their masters.

Perscila briefly wondered where exactly did house elvesgo if they belong to no witch, or wizard. Was there a safe haven for house elves on an island? Werethey so brainwashed to believe that they were nothing more than slaves that they went

looking for new families to serve?

Perscila knocked away the wave of disgust as she trudged through the long hallways of the residence. At a time when she was growing up, your sympathy towards house elves was laughable so she was used to pushing away her biased views.

Besides, the Zabini's paid for herhome, andher luxuries, a dozen or so house elves was nothing to Perscila. She was lucky enough that a pure blood family treated Perscila as an equal. An equal that they paid;nonetheless, an equal.

It was known to some among the magic world that some pure blood families were bad, while others were good. It was the simplest way Perscila could elaborate it as. Before..You-Know-Who had fallen from power, most pure blood families were expected to follow
/the evil wizard's dark views. The Zabini family was one that had been lucky enough to escape the suffocating expectation despite their affiliations with some of the more infamous pure blooded families.

As far as Perscila knew, the Zabini family only view those with money a worthy bunch, blood be damned.

The maid reached the sitting room of the family and was surprised to see the usual toys that the twins ownedsprawled on the floor. Paint brushes, dolls, and charmed little trinkets lie there, but no sign of the mini terrors. Perscila found the strangeness
/she had felt once before, nip at her inside like a parasite.

It seemed as though
