IRON MAN 2 SPOILERS! My first Iron Man fic so I hope you enjoy =D
"Pepper?" Called a voice from the basement. "Can you give me a ha- WOAAAH!" his sentence was interpreted by a loud crash as he yelped in shock. Pepper, hearing the banging from downstairs, yet not Tony's voice, scurried down the stairs to his aid. Without looking she jammed in the password to the door and didn't look up till she heard Tony talking. "Now what did I say about staying AWAY from the god damned desk!" Tony pointed accusingly at the robot, who was pointed his head down in shame. Pepper laughed making Tony look up from scalding the bot. "It's not funny Pepper, he just knocked over a can of coke onto my arc reactor!" She muffled her laughter.
"Oh god, it hasn't damaged your chest has it!" Panic edged her voice.
"Of course not, I made it waterproof so I can go swimming if I want to." Oh that makes sense, Pepper thought, feeling slightly stupid for having thought otherwise.
"Why are you yelling then?" She raised an eyebrow, confused.
"It was my last can of coke!" Pepper burst into hysterics, doubling over with laughter and holding onto a nearby wall to hold her up. After she had tamed the last remaining giggles she turned to face Tony, who was frowning at her clearly not thinking the situation was amusing.
"Sorry Mr Stark, it's the most horrendous day today as you have no coke. Should I get Jarvis to order some more?"
"Already done Miss Potts" The mechanical british voice boomed from somewhere within the room.
"Oh great thanks Jarvis" She smiled stupidly at the ceiling before moving towards a somewhat annoyed Tony. "Tony, are you sure you're okay?"
"Never better" he sprung up and strode to meet Pepper.
"Eeep!" she squeaked, surprised as Tony pulled her into a giant hug. He chuckled into her hair then released the hug but held onto her shoulders looking deep into her eyes, faces close together.
"What would I do without you Pepper eh?" He grinned cheekily at her. Pepper's heart stopped as she thought back to the rooftop and the amazing kiss they had. That had been a month ago and nothing had happened after. They just forgot it. She had no idea why. She certainly wanted to see where it would lead, because she loved Tony Stark. Arc reactor and all. Ever since he had come back from his captivity. When he was forced to build the Iron Man to escape. She had missed him so much. It pained her to think of the way he could have been dead. Shuddering the thought out of mind she gazed back into Tony's eyes.
"Absolutely nothing" she whispered not wanting him to move. She wanted him to kiss her again, just like the rooftop, but this time with no interruptions. She wanted him to carry her upstairs take her into his bedroom and-
"Yeep, you're correct! 1-0 to Potts" he ranted ecstatically, releasing her arms and bouncing around the room, collecting various pieces of floating data and stacking them in one corner of the room. Pepper's heart saddened at the loss of his hands upon on her shoulders and the lack of kiss that came. She knew that the kiss on the rooftop was impulsive behaviour. She had just saved the world. Of course he wanted to kiss someone. And it obviously wasn't going to be Rhodey. Although that would have been kind of funny. But she couldn't help loving the dashing idiot in front of her.
