Author's Note: This is a cute little one-shot idea I got from listening to a thunderstorm.
Disclaimer: I do not own Black Blood Brothers, just the idea.
Little Kotaro was frightened. The booming noise he kept hearing from outside kept him from sleeping and the small blonde didn't want to be alone because he feared the noise would take him from his brother Jiro. The lightnong flashed a moment before another loud clap of thunder sounded. Kotaro couldn't take it anymore, he needed Jiro to protect him.
Jiro was happily sleeping in his bed, oblivious to the storm raging outside the Dark Princess of the North's mansion. He rolled subconiously and snuggled against one of the pillows on the warm bed. Nothing could disturb his peaceful slumber. Just then he heard the patter of small feet and he heard his door open and shut quickly. Jiro felt himself being shaken and awakened with a sigh as he sat up. Kotaro was standing before him, he was clearly shaken up and Jiro could tell even without a light.
"Kotaro what are doing up? You should be in bed sleeping," Jiro chided his five year old brother. Kotaro looked up at him.
"Brother there's a scary monster outside and I don't want it to get me. I like being with you Brother and I don't want to live with a scary monster," Kotaro piped before yelping as another clap of thunder reverberated through the mansion. Jiro picked up his frightened brother and put him in bed next to him.
"Don't worry Kotaro, as long as I'm here no monsters will come and do you any harm. Besides, once the morning comes that monster will be gone, but only if you're good and go to sleep," Jiro said comfortingly as he laid down next to Kotaro. The smaller Mochizuki nodded and quickly snuggled against Jiro as the loudest thunder clap Kotaro had ever heard sounded and shook the mansion. Jiro held his frightened charge and kissed the boy's forehead to try and aleviate his fears. Kotaro started crying, wetting Jiro's shirt, but the elder Mochizuki didn't care. Making sure Kotaro felt safe was his only concern right now.
"You know Kotaro I was once afraid of storms like you," Jiro cooed. Kotaro sat up and looked sadly into Jiro's eyes.
"R-really," Kotaro said with a sniffle. Jiro sat up and nodded.
"Really, I used to go to Mother's room every night when I was young because of the storms that frequently plagued the town we lived in. One night Mother told me that whenever the thunder sounded it was only a bear chasing away any villains that might hurt you," Jiro said warmly as he held Kotaro comfortingly, wiping away the blonde's tears.
"So its only Grand Duke Bow-wow chasing away the monsters?" Kotaro asked. Jiro nodded and it seemed to make Kotaro relax. Kotaro yawned and fell asleep with his head against Jiro's chest, his slow heart beat acting like a lullaby to the five year old. Jiro smiled and laid down, snuggling against the child and drifting asleep.
Author's Note: How did you enjoy this flufftastic one-shot? As a note this takes place five years before the events of Black Blood Brothers meaning Kotaro is only five making Jiro ninety-five and for all of you who care Mimiko fifteen. Review for more of these little fluffy ones-shots centered around Jiro, Kotaro, and Mimiko before, during, and after Black Blood Brothers.~Bff#3
