Half sister.
Skipper paced. He was the only one up besides the zoo's knockturnals. Hans words kept ringing in his head. 'I kissed your sister on the lips!'. He didn't trust Hans but the face he made upon hearing Skipper did not have a sister was not one of a lier. It made Skipper wonder who would pretend to be his sister? As for the lips part that could only mean she was a mammal. He sat down and rested his flipper on his chin. His parents had divorced when he was young. He was raised by his mother's brother who had taken him one night when his mother had gotten too drunk. He'd always been told his father was dead to discourage him from searching for him, but now he had to wonder. Was his dad alive? Did he have a sister? Was she part mammal? Was he part mammal?
Kowalski stirred in his sleep. He opened a drowsy eye suprized he sat up and rubbed his head. "Skipper?"
Skipper jolted then relizing it was only Kowalsi he flinched. "Go back to sleep Kowalski."
"Is something wrong sir?" The days events came back to him and he woke up a little more. "Thinking about Hans?"
Skipper sighed. "Among other things...yes."
"Anything I can help you sort out?"
"Nothing important Kowalski. Lets get some shut-eye."
Kowalski knew something was up. "Are you sure sir? I'm sure I can help."
Skipper remained silent wondering if he should share his thoughts or disregaurd them. For once his gut was quiet. He didn't know what to do.
"Please Skipper I'm ninety percent sure I can help."
"Kowaslski I'm just wondering if I have a sister."
"Wouldn't you know if you had a sister?"
"Maybe. Like Private I was raised by my uncle, but I knew my mom. I never met my father. He disapeared before I hatched and my uncle always said he was dead but, I remember my mom being drunk and telling me what a jerk he had been to leaving her with a chick she didn't... want." He stopped and lost himself in his thoughts.
"What brought on this little flashback?" The tall penguin mused.
"What Hans said about kissing my sister. I know I'm my moms only chick but could my dad have... had another chick? A sister? A part mammal sister? Could I be part mammal?"
"You are full penguin Skipper the DNA test you took proves that. The tester was fitted for aves. It woudn't have given acurate results if you weren't a bird."
"Hmm."
"What?"
"So do you think its possible? That I have a sister?"
"If she wasen't your biological mothers daughter she could only be your half sister."
"Half sister huh? I think this warrents further investigation." He slid from his bunk.
"What are you going to do Skipper?"
"Research."
Kowalski hopped up exitedly. "Let me be of assistance! Research is my middle name! Well not really as that would be ridiculous as I clearly would not-." Skipper clammped his beak shut.
"Alright you can help. Just be quiet. Okay?"
"Yes sir."
"What do we look for first?"
"Your father."
Skipper shuddered. He didn't know if he wanted to find anything now. Paranoia was both a gift and a curse in many ways.
