Steve and Dan

(Written in the tradition of the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill")
Steve and Dan, uphill they ran
Then made a stop for water.
Dan fell down and broke his crown
And Steve came tumbling after.
Up Dan got, to Steve's side did trot
As fast as he could stagger.
He turned gray, seeing with dismay
That a tree branch had become a dagger.
He rendered aid, then help he bade
For his Five-0 team proctor.
"Get here fast, he may not last.
McGarrett needs a doctor!"
Later Dan came in, in relief did grin
To see his partner well and bandaged
"Why is it?" he queried, his voice now wearied.
"We always end up hurt or damaged?"
Steve, he shifted; his eyebrows he lifted
At Danny's grumbled observation.
"Not my fault, I tried to halt!"
And smiled at Danny's deflation.
