Warning: My first fanfic and a songfic at that, too. SO be PATIENT with me Tried my best:PP
I am moving through the crowd,
Trying to find myself,
Feeling like a guitar that's never been played,
Will someone strum away?
Max started playing her guitar when she began to cry. Making the tyears stain not only her face, but drop onto the mahogany wood. She was sad. Sad that everyone didn't love her. Sad that the flock like Fang as a better leader than her. They thought that he was more fun. Or so she thought.
And I ask myself
Who do I wanna be?
Do I wanna throw away the key?
And invent a whole new me?
And then she stopped playing. It's not that the flock didn't love her, it's that she felt like she wasn't good enough.
And I tell myself,
No One, No One
Don't wanna be,
No One,
But me..
She strummed once, but very hard, on her guitar. She looked at the dark cave wall in front of her. She was perched on a rock, thinking, crying. She didn't hear the quiet footsteps behind her. She started whispering to herself. "I'm not good enough. Not for leader, not for the flock, and not for Fang." There she said it. Fang. That was it, the whole key to her emotions. She started crying again.
You are moving through the crowd
Trying to find yourself
Feelin' like a doll left on a shelf
Will someone take you down?
Then she slowed her sobs. Thinking again… Then started up, again. Memories went through her brain. All of them. All the fun times, with the flock, by herself, and with Fang.
And you ask yourself,
Who do I wanna be?
Do I wanna throw away the key?
And invent a whole new me?
Then she put her guitar down, placed her hands in her lap, and said aloud to herself. "I'll never be satisfactory." She chuckled quietly to herself, though ending it with a hiccup and tears all over again. "Who do I wanna be? I wanna be Perfect."
Gotta tell yourself
No One, No One
Don't wanna be, No One
But me..
Then she lifted her head higher in the air. Realizing something: She didn't need to be perfect. No, not perfect at all. She needed to be herself. That was satisfactory in itself.
Your life plays out on the shadows of the wall
You turn the light on to erase it all
You wonder what it's like to not feel worthless
So open all the blinds and all the curtains
Max smiled at herself. Then she felt hands on her shoulders. She froze, but then relaxed when a voice, right next to her ear, whispered, "You're Perfect already. Too Perfect. Wish I could be Satisfactory."
No One, No One
Don't wanna be
No One
But me..
We are moving through the crowd...
"Thanks," Max replied. She scooted over for Fang to sit next to her. He kissed her and smiled.
"No problem."
