Author's note: Ok, I KNOW I'm not the only fan absolutely positively pissed off at the reunion scene in "Stolen Earth". You know the one I'm talking about, though Harriet Jones had me LOL. I can't believe they brought her back. Anyways, here's my take on how the scene should have actually gone, and it's not often that I write a short au fic, but there you have it, that's how annoyed I am.

PS sorry about the title, I didn't know what else to call it.

How it should have been

By Sambrea

Rose weaved her way between the abandoned cars all over the road, knowing that the Tardis had to be nearby somewhere nearby and something was pointing her in the direction of the nearby cathedral where the familiar blue box with it's bright light was blinking away at the top, but what made her really smile was the two people standing in front of it, both of whom were familiar but only one of whom was facing her and it wasn't the one she wanted to see the most.

Donna, lovely, wonderful Donna, who had died to save the universe, said something to her Doctor while looking at her and he turned around, staring at her in amazement, making her grin even more as suddenly they were running toward each other, meeting somewhere in between despite the situation, they were laughing as he twirled her around and they forgot everything around them and just reveled in the feeling of completeness, neither able to stop grinning.

"Never say never Doctor," Rose whispered as she hugged him tightly, her hands slipping under his greatcoat to get closer to him.

"I can't believe you're home," he murmured back. "Oi, I never did finish that sentence did I? Rose Tyler, I love you, and I have for a very long time," he admitted, wanting to scream it to the heavens, but instead settling for a whisper.

"I always thought as much," Rose agreed, grinning even more if that was even possible as she reached up to pull his face down to hers for a long-anticipated kiss.

"Oi, I didn't think it was possible, but I guess some kisses really will happen despite the world falling down around them," Donna said.

Rose broke off the kiss only because of a desperate need for air but still clinging tightly to her Doctor as he rested his head on the top of hers, his eyes closed. "Nice to see you too Donna," she said with a little laugh. "By the way, your Mum and Grandfather are fine, I just came from there."

"What for?"

""I thought they might know how to contact you, they couldn't, but I saw the whole thing with Harriet Jones, just didn't have a camera to join in," she said with a shrug.

"You're here now, that's all that matters," the Doctor said. "We need to wait for everyone else to join us before we have a go at Davros."

"Like me?" an American voice said over the Doctor's shoulder.

"Jack," Rose breathed, turning them around so she could see him without having to let go of the Doctor.

His eyes grew big as saucers as he took her in. "Rose…how?" he asked, taking her hand when she offered it to him, even though she refused to let go of the Doctor.

"I found my way home," she said, hugging him with a little prodding from the Doctor who didn't mind at all. "You knew I wasn't dead?"

"I ran into him last year. How long has it been for you?"

"Four years, you?"

"Two since Canary Wharf, though over 100 since the Gamestation."

"Guys, I really hate to be a killjoy, but we should be saving the world, not reminiscing," Donna pointed out.

The End

Yes, that's really it!
