Author's Note: (even though no one cares for this crap anyway)

Uhhhh… If you know me on or have been to my site this is a bit "sudden" for me to write something that actually makes sense. OO This IS first fan fiction. So please don't flame me, or I'll just laugh in your face. Go easy on me, since I'm not really much of a writer, so this fic WILL SUCK. So that makes ideas and suggestions always appreciated! Thanks, and now on to the Shadow and Rouge fanfic. (What? Is this the only one on the entire net?)

Prologue: Intro? The Prologue of Boredom!

Rouge the bat sat on the couch in her apartment groaning, without anything to do. She was what every man wanted- clever, smart, sassy and attractive. She often flirted, making her even harder to get. If someone was caught with her, it was only because she was flirting to get what she wants. What she really had the interest of was jewels. She worked for the government, as a spy, which of course, was so she could get paid in jewels.

Shadow the hedgehog, whom often accompanied her, sat next to window, looking outside. Due to…well... Let's just say "bad past experiences" he rarely smiled, or even at least acted happy for once after it. Not much to say about him, except that he never spoke up, and when he did, it was for insulting Sonic, his rival.

Despite this, Shadow had a few feelings in mind for Rouge. He saved her life numerous times in missions, sometimes even talked to her, and felt like he might've even liked her more than a friend. She reminded him of one the only bright things in his past- Maria, who died on the Space Colony Ark. She was his first and only friend back then, but at times, he felt like his relationship with Rouge was a "more than just friends."

Of course, he was too aloof to admit such things, and constantly ignored her. She'd try to get his attention, but either gave up or just keep trying until they were annoyed by each other. This time, however, she was going to catch his attention.

Rouge sparked an idea through her head, and gave a sly smirk to herself while he wasn't looking. "Hey, Shadow! There's another emerald in Station Square," She lied. "I bet Sonic is looking for it."

All he said was his usual "hmph" as a reply, and before he knew it, Rouge was pushing him out of the door.
