Day 12 of the 100 Day Drabble Challenge (aka 100 days of me neglecting all my other writing) (I hope you're fucking happy)

By the way, I know Bianca tried for rebirth, but I'm disregarding that for a second for the purpose of this fic. Kay? Kay.

When Hazel decided to retreat to her room and read a little before bedtime, she did not expect to see the ghost of her dead sister.

Hazel.

"AH!" Hazel threw the book she was reading and scrambled back on all fours. Before her stood Bianca di Angelo, or what she assumed was Bianca. She'd never seen the girl, but she looked so much like Nico that it was impossible to not know that this was Bianca. Her ghostly form was shimmery and silver, sort of like she was behind a piece of translucent glass.

Bianca came forward with her hands held in a placating manner. It's okay, girl. Calm down. I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to talk to you.

Hazel raised an eyebrow. "You, dead-sister-who-I-never-got-to-meet, want to talk to me, formerly-dead-sister-who-you-never-got-to-meet?" Bianca gave her a confused look and nodded slowly. After a moment, Hazel shrugged and leaned back, looking for all the world like she wasn't shaking internally. "Let's talk."

Her sister seemed to take a deep breath before speaking. Look, Hazel, I'm sorry I never got to meet you. Circumstances, y'know? Believe me, once I found out that I had a sister and that Nico actually found her and took her up here willingly...I was so happy. You don't know how long I've watched my little brother. Since the day I died. It killed me, having to look at what he did and never being able to do my real duty: be Nico's big sister. That's who I am.

"Nico knows that, Bianca. He knows."

No! Now the ghostly sister looked furious. He doesn't! He has this harebrained plan that he'll find Mom and I and take us to the land of the living like he did you. But the one thing he doesn't understand is that he cannot find us. Our father has forbidden it. My mother and I are the two ghosts he can't see. He would do something so totally Nico if he found us.

Sadly, Hazel knew exactly what kind of thing her brother would do. He had good intentions, but was reckless when it came to family matters. "I see your point. And, um, Bianca? Not that I'm not totally excited to finally be able to see you, but why are you here?"

In a flash Bianca was right next to her. I need your help, sister. Hazel nodded worriedly. Keep Nico away from us. Tell him to forget this scheme. No matter how much he wants it, Mom and I can't come back. We are here. And I won't be much longer. I'm gonna try for rebirth. I need you to tell him that. Mom will be hidden and I'll be far away.

Now Hazel was getting angry. "So you're just leaving him alone! He has no one! No one except..."

You. Bianca smiled sadly. You are all he has now, Hazel. You and Dad are the only family he's got. The ghost girl put her hand on Hazel's shoulder and squeezed it lovingly. Be his sister, Haze. Do it for me. Your big sister. Okay?

Hazel wiped a tear from her eye. She didn't even know she'd been crying. She embraced Bianca's half-solid form. "I feel like I just gained and lost a sister," she said quietly.

Bianca looked like she wanted to cry, too. You and Nico will never lose me. Ti amo...

The oldest child of Hades disappeared, leaving her younger sibling crying and clutching the air. "I'll do it, sister," she whispered to the space where Bianca had been. "I-We love you, too."
