It was almost like fizz in a carbonated drink, like human fizz as it bubbled up, up, and out of her. Small peels of joy mingled with steadier and louder laughter, and she bent over, just trying to contain it, even though to contain it felt like putting a lid over her own emotions and calling it a day. Then, she heard the most breathtaking and breath stealing sound ever; it was soft, just barely audible, but it rocked with smaller motions not unlike how she shook with laughter.

Her blue eyes looked up to see green eyes gazing back with such mirth and good humor that she wanted to wrap her arms around him and give him a hug. Amelia paused out of slight worry that if she did reach out that the sound would stop. It felt like the delicate dawning of Spring over the horizon, as the air finally began to warm up, and Winter seemed to melt away in a quick instant.

She felt as if her heart were Winter turning into Spring, and her lungs were the leaves just beginning to grow new leaves, to protect them, to flower, and flourish. Amelia wasn't sure if a person could become Spring, but she was almost entirely positive that in a few stolen moments of good humor that she became Spring risen from the ground.

Her laughter died down like light rainfall, and she wondered if he noticed how captivated she was by such a little sound. Finally, he stopped laughing, and her heart clung homebound to her throat.

"Ami." Toris smiled, and it felt like her nickname came alive. It was only something that he'd called her once during a quiet and lazy day spending time together when both of them wished beds grew out of the ground and that they could steal a couple more hours of sleep despite how alert everything but their tired minds seemed. It had become so heartfelt and sweet and remniscient to that quiet, peaceful day that he kept calling her that every now and again.

It felt better without a 'y' somehow, anyway. Amelia caught her breath of Spring as she turned towards him, "I've never heard you laugh before." She hated the words as soon as they left her lips. Were they rude and harsh? Did they not tell him how she felt like a Cherry Blossom tree just fluttering to life?

"I don't usually laugh." He paused, "Not, like that." Toris laughed, just it was often soft and hidden, soundless as it touched the air, only gaining noise when something truly sent him over the edge in laughter, and it wasn't wild as Amelia was sure that her laughs sometimes were.

"It's pretty." She smiled up at him, tucking her blond hair away as if sudden wind would catch it on its stride through, and she knew that somehow she'd remember this moment as if it was always a moment ago or perhaps yesterday, and she'd hold on to that feeling of Spring that lit up her veins at just the soft, casual sound of his laughter, that somehow left her feeling leagues closer to her best friend, sort of boyfriend. They hadn't yet asked each other out, but they both knew that the other felt something there beneath the waves of sheer joy and bliss that just talking to each other or being near each other brought along with it.

She never wants to forget this feeling of Spring and how it pulled the last vestiges of Winter from her lungs, from her lips, from her heart, and left her beaming at something so simple, so light, so free, and she couldn't help but long to just pull close and hold him near, now to dust the quiet with the sound of warmth.
