Hello everybody. This chapter was made by Articstorm. We are working together on a story, and all credit for this chapter goes to Articstorm.
Tris POV
Chaos is the one word I could use to describe my job.
I work at Dauntless Day Care, but that's just one of my jobs. I also work at a coffee shop just around the corner. It's not as chaotic as the day care, but my boss, Peter can be a real bitch sometimes. We look after at least 100-200 kids a day, and we severely disobey the child-care ratio, which should be 10:1, but for us it's more like 50:1.
By 'we' I mean myself and the other careers. But we all prefer to call ourselves Dauntless. There are eight of us all together. The Pedrad brothers, Zeke and Uriah, Shauna and Lynn who are sisters, Marlene, Christina, Will and me.
"Trissy!" One of my three best friends, Christina screeches, running over.
"Two things Chrissy; One, never ever call me Trissy or Trissypoo. And two; what?"
"Uripoo needs the space hoppers."
"I don't trust him with those space hoppers." I tell her. "Remember last time he had one? He broke a kid's arm."
"But it was an accident!" Christina argues.
"Unless someone is watching him, I don't trust him."
"Marlene's watching him!"
"Anyone but Marlene."
"Marlene is a perfectly sensible adult!"
I give Christina a questioning look. We both know that isn't true. Sure, Marlene is much more sensible than Uriah, but I wouldn't say she's wholly sensible. But she's halfway there.
"Maybe we should watch the two of them then." Chris suggests.
I sigh and agree with her. We heard over to the toy storage, which is down the same large corridor as the staff room and toilets. I grab a key out of the pocket of my black jeans, unlock the large double-doors and let Christina trot inside ahead of me to switch the lights on before we try to find the space hoppers.
We find the five orange space hoppers at the back of the storeroom, and Christina belly flops onto them before she sits on the largest one, grabbing hold of the handles and starts bouncing circles around me.
I grab the other four and follow the extremely happy, literally bouncing Christina out of the room and follow her to the back of the Day Care, near the glass doors that lead outside.
Uriah is standing on top of the black leather couch with a small group of kids sitting around him of the floor. Marlene isn't with him.
His chocolate-brown eyes light up when he sees us.
"Chrissy! Trissy! You got the space hoppers!"
I resist the urge to yell at him for calling me 'Trissy', while Christina stands up still holding the space hopper up, so it seems like she has the ass of a firefly.
"Of course we did Uripoo!" Chris yells back.
At that moment Marlene comes rounds the corner of the plastic playhouse, casually eating an apple. She flashes me a bemused look as she spots Christina's 'ass' and takes her phone out her pocket and takes a picture. The mousy brown haired girl smirks and mouths 'dat ass' at me. I snigger and watch Mar try to get past Christina's fake rubber ass.
Marlene is nearly past the mocha skinned girl when Will yells from the Day Care's entrance. "Christina!"
Chris spins on her heel, whacking Marlene in the back, making her face-plant the carpeted floor. Will must have only just said hi, because Christina waves at him before sitting down again, squishing Marlene into the floor with the space hopper.
Marlene manages to throw Christina and her massive fake space hopper ass off of her back and I watch as my two female best friends start a space hopper fight.
Uriah immediately joins in, and hands me a space hopper. I can't help but thinking we're the most immature people in the world. The kids that were sitting quietly on the floor are now chanting the word 'fight'.
Reluctantly I stop, and give Uri, Mar and Chris 'the look' and they stop as well. Sometimes I hate having to set an example, but I don't want to get in the bad books with any of these kids' parents, in case they're rich and mange to sue us for every penny we have.
The kids groaned and one complained about how 'we never do anything fun'.
Uriah flings his space hopper at the wall and drops to his knees in front of the seven year-old. "Don't you worry, don't you worry child, Uri has a plan for you..." He says in a slightly menacing sing-song voice.
All the little kids scream and run behind Marlene and Christina, some of them cling onto their shirts and bury their heads into the much older girl's stomachs. Uriah hops to his feet, spins around and starts chasing the kids, Marlene and Christina around the Day Care, eventually chasing and trapping them in the soft play that took up the left side of the room.
Uriah sits at the entrance of the soft play, glaring at the small group above him as they throw their shoes at him. One of Christina's heeled leather boots hits him in the forehead knocking him onto his back and I double over laughing.
"Excuse me, miss!"
I turn my head and see a tall man standing beside the entrance waving for me to come over. I jog over and try to scramble over the magnetic, meter-high gate but fail.
Lynn is sitting behind the register, texting on her phone. She looks up at me and smirks before hitting a button underneath the desk and the gate swings open. Sometimes I wonder how Will, Chris, Zeke, Uri and Marlene could climb over easily. Then I remember they're much taller than I am.
I feel my cheeks heat up as I make my way over to him. He's at least six feet tall, handsome and has gorgeous deep blue eyes.
He has his arm draped around a tall brown-haired woman's waist and a kid which must be his hiding behind him.
"I'm Four." He says in a deep, gruff voice.
"Tris." I reply firmly
