Gaara lay on the hard earth, breathing deeply. His forehead bled down his face, all energy drained from his body. He turned his head slowly, pain shooting through him. The blonde boy, Naruto, was dragging himself across the ground towards him. His forehead bled also, from the violent head-butt he'd given Gaara. His movements were slow from exhaustion to the point that he used his chin to move himself along.
He raised his head to stare with brilliant blue eyes at the near unconscious Jinchuuriki.
"It's that loneliness that causes that pain..."
Gaara's eyes widened.
"I know what it's like, to be hated, to feel unloved, to always be alone... but you're not alone. I found people who cared for me and they saved me"
"But, there is no one..." Gaara paused, trying to find all his energy to finish his sentence.
"...No one who cares for me. It has been... too long"
"There are people!" Both of them were surprised at Naruto's outburst, and the blonde continued slowly, having lost a lot of energy.
"Your... team mates"
Gaara tried to think through the cloud of exhaustion. Yes, his team mates had always been there for him. He hadn't really thought about it. It would've never occurred to him that his brother and sister really cared.
"Gaara... I know what it's like... being alone. I can help you..."
The blonde reached out and touched Gaara's hand. It was a strange feeling, to be touched to carefully and softly, thought Gaara. It made him feel safe rather than threatened.
"You can... help me?" He asked feebly. But the blonde had his eyes closed, unconscious. Gaara smiled softly, and fell into the darkness too.
