Endings

Drabble

Like goodbyes, Sharpay was never fond of endings. To her, they always left so much left unsaid. Sure - the story might say "and they lived happily ever after," but...how could you be sure without knowing all about their lives onward yourself? Sharpay never believed stories with endings like that - in fact, she never believed stories with those endings period. Because her life was already filled with lies anyway.

Troy Bolton - he, in her life, was a lie. All fake smiles and fake happy words. She knew he didn't like her - not one bit. That never stopped her from purusing him, though. Not because she thought she'd get a happy ending with him - but because at least he tried to be happy when conversing with her. Nobody else tried - nobody else cared about her, not even Ryan, her brother who simply followed her around because they sounded good together when they sang, voices overlapping.

At least it kind of seemed like they - herself and Troy, of course - were getting somewhere - it seemed like they were meant to be. Fated, even.

But truthfully she knew how it was all going to end. And it most certainly would not be with a "happily ever after." But at least that meant she would never have to harbour false hope, never have to think optimistically to herself, No - of course we will be together. One day.

For Troy Bolton, East High's Golden Boy, was never meant to get to together with Sharpay Evans, East High's Ice Queen.

And why was that?

Because fairy tales lied, endings were a farse, and no one truly got their happily ever after - even if your name was Cinderella.
