AN: This is my first Stephenie Meyer fanfic. There was just something about Pet that I liked. Review and let me know what you think! Incredibly short. :3

Disclaimer: All fabulous characters in this story are completely owned by Miss Meyer. I just took poor Cloud Spinner and gave her a voice.

Cloud Spinner waited, but Petals Open to the Moon never came back inside. She was trying to give Pet the space she often begged for. It was so hard for Cloud Spinner. Her daughter was so fragile, beautiful. It was often just too difficult for her to let Pet go.

Pet's birthday was coming up. Her seventeenth. Cloud Spinner was planning a huge part for her daughter's big and special day. Pet's friends would come, and they all would have a fantastic time together. Pet would be so excited and have so much fun. Her daughter loved parties. She loved being with friends.

Cloud Spinner's tongue clocked against her teeth. Where was Petals? It was almost time to eat. Pet said she wouldn't go far. She said she wouldn't be long.

Maybe she should have gone out after her. She might have needed that jacket. What if she became so cold that she just stopped moving? Could their bodies do that in such weather?

Anxiety flood Cloud Spinner's body. This emotion was new, frighteningly new. What was happening to herself? She started walking back and forth across the living room. She was pacing.

She took a deep breath. No, no. There was nothing to worry about. Pet just got distracted, that was all. She probably just started talking to one of the neighbors. There was absolutely nothing to worry about.

But Cloud Spinner wasn't convinced at all by her own self-assurances.

Finally unable to take the pressure to go after Pet anymore, Cloud Spinner rushed out of the house and down the porch steps. She looked left. She looked right.

Where was Pet?!

Cloud Spinner took another deep breath. She wouldn't freak out. Petals wouldn't like that at all. She would sigh at her mother in that way that showed that Pet just wanted to be treated like an adult. Cloud Spinner didn't want Pet to think that she couldn't give her the space she wanted.

So her mother waited outside. And waited. Still, Pet did not come home. Pet did not show up anywhere.

Where was Pet?!

Cloud Spinner was utterly frantic now. She ran all around the neighborhood, searching everywhere. Tears streamed down her face.

"Petals Open to the Moon!" Cloud Spinner kept calling. Her heart was hurting terribly. Her hands were shaky.

Pet wouldn't have left. She loved being here. She was sometimes at odds with Cloud Spinner, but they loved each other.

Cloud Spinner fell to her knees, sobbing wildly. She screamed, her body and voice out of control. She held herself, her arms wrapping around her shaking body. Her sobs were loud and awful; the anguished cry of a mother who has lost her baby.

Who took Pet away from her?
