Philippines OC Bio:
Name: Maria Clara de la Cruz
Appearance: She is 18 years old (actually over 500). She has lightly tanned skin, long black hair that she keeps in a ponytail (because it's really hot and humid and well tropical there), brown/golden eyes (the gold found in the islands long ago.) Also, she has a long stand of hair sticking out for Palawan and a heart shaped birthmark on her chest for Marinduque.
A little bit more about her:
-She's really good in speaking English, which they teach there in elementary school, and she speaks alright Spanish (a fact that depresses Spain)
-She is gullible and impressionable, and will be comfortable of doing something embarrassing if everybody is doing it.
-She is hard-working and dedicated and does her best to be polite (yes sir, of course ma'am, thank you very much, etc.)
-Reeeeeeeaaaaalllllyy tries to be friendly with everyone (which isn't that hard to her surprise), but she is a hot head with a sharp tongue, and she will forgive you but WILL hold grudges.
-Hopeless romantic (I swear all Filipino songs have to do with love), enjoys watching soap operas on TV (she calls the teleseryes), and she can be a terrible gossip.
-She nose-bleeds when under a difficult and frustrating situation, especially when she can't properly explain herself in English.
-She worries a lot about corruption in her government.
-She can be overdramatic at times (blame Spain)
-She is a food mongrel, especially when it concerns mangoes
-She sometimes and not often uses chopsticks like some of her Asian "siblings", but there are days when she eats with her hands.
-She is a believer that free things are good things
-She is VERY Catholic and pious (again, blame Spain) but she has Muslim minorities.
-She looooooves Christmas and New Years "Pasko at Bagong Taon." It's what she lives for. Because of that, she has the habit of making very dangerous and illegal fireworks.
-She is usually non-confrontational/ tampo attitude when she is upset with her friends; she gives people the silent treatment.
-She is superstitious (Supernatural = Evil.)
-She owns A LOT of exotic and endemic animals (like her pet monkey-eating eagle name Makisig.)
-Very proud of her traditions, culture, and history. Don't make fun of it. She will declare war.
-She has a habit of making her enemies her friends after the war.
-She first lived with China, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Nowadays, she has a rivalry with China over S. China Sea territory and Scarborough Shoal. She argues with Malaysia over Sabah/North Borneo aka "her inheritance" but Malaysia pretends that he doesn't know what she's talking about. And then there's the Spratly Islands.
-She knew India in her childhood.
- She was raised by Spain but has a grudge on him for the whole colony treatment, feeling very neglected, however, she missed her "papa" dearly and so established Philippines-Spanish Friendship Day.
-She became friendly with France during her fight with Spain, and he even let her national hero Jose Rizal live there in exile for a while
-She is America's ex-lover (become American colony, yes…? hell no.) She broke up with him. He doesn't want to remember the fight but she keeps reminding him about it. They remained great friends and allies and she kinda might still have feelings for him.
-She is friends with big brother "kuya" Mexico and was part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain
-She had that WWII issue with Japan and has forgiven him about it. She doesn't get mad about it anymore, just really sad.
-She befriended Australia in WWII and he is the second largest provider of defense training, after America of course.
-She was the only Asian nation to vote on the UN Partition Plan for Palestine in 1947, voting in favor.
-She treats the Vatican, and mostly all people who is her elder, with utmost respect.
