[DO: Somewhat oddball fanfic having not much to do with Rayman than the setting and the title. It's a Rayman 3 reference as to how Murphy first describes the 'cans of power' as Combat Fatigues. It follows the story of a long-earred bandicoot who...well the prologue explains it.]

Combat Fatigues

Mission 00 - Prologue

A group of teenagers walked down a simple cobblestone road towards a rather eccentric house on a dim, rainly day. The group approached the door while the front-runner reached out with his black and red sleeved arm to knock on the door with three sharp raps. A stacked up pair of teensies opened the door and welcomed the teens in.

Their apparent leader, the boy in the black and red hoodie spoke first, "I hope we aren't intruding, I just heard that you guys are good cooks." The teensie on top of the pair gave a reply for the both of them, "It isn't a problem at all! We haven't gotten many visitors in a while and like the company. We should be thanking you." He bowed, taking the somewhat ornate hat off of his head, his lower partner nodded, his dreadlocks whiping around the other's legs. The teens thanked the teensies and proceeded to sit down to an exquisite meal of chicken and biscuits.

The teensie with the dreadlocks, Mort, elbowed the teen in the hoodie, "Hey, buddy, that chick over there has been eyeballing ya the whole time you've been here. Go say something to her." The teen looked to where the teensie had gestured, "Her? No no no no no, I can't, she's way out of my league." He swung his arms in a criss-crossing gesture to emphasize his point.

As the teen looked over, the girl they had been discussing looked over at him and winked. He noticed that the other teensie was sitting next to her. They're matchmakers! The boy thought, that explains why he's trying to set me up with her. He shook his head and stood up, he told everyone he needed to get some air.

As he walked outside he was reminded of the rain, he had forgotten, he was busy thinking about that girl. It's kind of pathetic, he thought, we're hanging around in the same group, but I don't even know her name... He was startled slightly by the sound of the door opening behind him, it was the girl.

Before he could find anything to say she began speaking, her blue eyes twinkling in the twilight, "Hi there. I don't think we've been introduced. My name is V-" she trailed off, her gaze drifted upward. When he asked what was wrong, she lifted her arm and pointed into the clouds.

Where there had once been only drab gray clouds, there now was a large black spaceship of some sort. There was a large seal of an 'SL' in gray letters backed by a purple field on the side of the ship. It seemed to be headed towards the house. As it neared ever closer, all the two could do was watch in sheer confusion.

Soon enough, the ship was almost directly overhead. It angled itself as if it were going to pass them by but, unfortunately, they would have no such luck. From side mounted ports launched several small, in comparison to the ship, objects that turned out to be about the size of the house, sometimes larger.

They were simply large metal spheres on three legs armed with a vast array of tools. One of which was a large pincer which two used to capture the teens. Though they struggled, the two could not escape the grasp of the pincers.

As they continued to struggle, the robots flew off toward the ship. Once they entered, the teens were led off in separate directions by hooded men.

Three brutal years of experimentation by the mysterious Shadow Legion envelop the rest of the interim of time. Who knows what has happened to the two teens, let alone why it happened...
