A/N: Written for the Digimon Flash Bingo on the DFC (link's in my profile), #009 – disaster. And because I feel like I haven't written the twins with light family humour for a while.

Dinner Surprise

Kouji had been hoping to surprise his brother and mother, but his attempt had been disastrous.

It was a perfectly straight-forward plan. He was spending the night over at his mother's apartment in Minami. She knew she'd be late off work and Kouichi had an art club meeting that afternoon, so she'd left him the key under the mat. Since Kouji's school had a student-free day, he'd taken the inter-city train around lunch time, leaving him plenty of time to surprise his brother and mother with dinner.

But it wasn't to be. Kouji was sure he'd followed the recipe book to a "t", but the floor and sink were all coated with flour and the stove was a mix of white, yellow and red from multiple pots spilling over. And, technically, Kouji hadn't even started the hard stuff.

It was lucky he'd brought his own ingredients, and plenty of them, but unfortunate about the mess. Because once he gave up and resigned himself to cleaning, he realised there was no way he'd had the kitchen back to its previous state by the time his brother came home.

Though it could be worse, he decided to himself, thinking that Kouichi would only smile, maybe laugh a little, and help him clean up. It could be his neat father seeing the mess and getting the sort of heart attack that only came from troublesome kids.
