Heavy footsteps and even heavier heart made their way to the balcony.
He put his hands on the rail, inhaled, looked up at the stars, and closed his eyes.
Softer, alien footsteps approached from the shadows behind.
"You okay?" she inquired, with a yawn.
"Have I been that obvious?" he answered, shifting his gaze downward.
"You do not have to be a mind reader to know something is wrong" she stated. "You wanna talk about it?"
"No," he quickly answered.
She nodded and began to walk away.
"Ever wonder if the price is too high?" he asked.
"Yes…I do."
