Hope and Remembrance
Author's Note: Another late-night inspiration, although a rather tragic one TT But don't you just love a story that makes you cry:P Also, it has been a while since I last watched the 2nd movie, so I apologize ahead of time for any erroneous details. I searched up a rather good movie summary/synopsis online, so I hope that it'll correct all my mistakes " Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own CCS.
"Return to the shape you were meant to be!" Sakura shouted as she sealed the Void card. Bright ribbons enveloped its ghostly human form, pulling it back into a card. Sakura stared at the card in her hand, thinking back to what Eriol had told her…
You must convert the Void into a Sakura card in order to restore the balance. However, to do so, one's most cherished feelings will be sacrificed. The card will choose the person with the greatest magical power when the time comes…
Sakura looked back at Syaoran, who was standing at the end of the stairway behind her; she still hadn't told him how she felt. With a shake of her head, she realized that she must focus on the problem at hand – she needed to make sure that everything and everyone are ok. With a sigh, she took out her wand once more, tapping the card to convert it into a Sakura card.
She held her breath as she watched the Void surround Syaoran in a dark sphere. It had chosen him instead because she had exhausted most of her power today summoning her cards.
"Syaoran!" Sakura cried, tears forming in her eyes.
"Sakura, it's alright," Syaoran comforted, "Even if I am to lose this love, I'll come to love you again."
He smiled bravely as the conversion became complete. Sakura's eyes widened when she saw letters appear at the bottom of the new card: Hope. The sphere then disappeared and Syaoran stood up, seemingly unchanged.
"Syaoran?" she whispered, unsure.
"What's wrong Sakura?" Syaoran smiled, the same warming smile as before, but this time she knew that something was missing. "It's as if you don't recognize me! Why are you crying?"
Sakura wiped her tears away and forced herself to smile for him, knowing that he had truly forgotten.
"I'm fine, Syaoran," she tried to sound reassuring. "I'm just glad that everything will be ok now."
Syaoran nodded back.
"Come, let's go see if everyone's alright or not."
As they ran back down the stairway, with Syaoran leading, Sakura couldn't help but think about what could've been. If she had confessed her feelings earlier, would it have helped?…No, this was inevitable; she tried to make herself believe it. Perhaps it was for the best. Maybe he would have feelings for her once again…and when that happens, she will tell him how she feels. Sakura nodded resolutely to herself as she gazed at Syaoran from behind. She even smiled a little unconsciously; there would always be hope.
Abruptly he stopped.
"Sakura," he started in a queer voice, turning to face her, "I know this sounds odd, but somehow I feel as if I've forgotten something."
Sakura nearly gasped in surprise. But she kept her mouth shut and swallowed – however hard it was to do so – and then cleared her throat.
"Well, whatever it is, I'm sure you'll remember it someday."
Syaoran, visibly confused, nodded anyway and smiled again. The two of them then proceeded down the stairway once more.
Syaoran, I know you'll remember it someday…
