A/N: This is a story that I really wanted to read, but never planned to write. But then, I got an idea in class to do this, and here it is. This is based on the part in Midnight Sun, when Edward says that people had sometimes guessed that they were vampires, and when he said that he was glad the name Edward had gone out of style, because he was tired of always responding to it.
Camille Samuels glanced upward from her seat to see the proud and annoying Edward Peyte walking past her, head held high as usual. She frowned turning back to her lunch. Edward Peyte is such an egotistical prick. She thought angrily, and was startled when the dangerously good-looking Edward Cullen turned around to stare at her as soon as the first part of the thought had crossed her mind. Then he seemed to look embarrassed. As if he had caught himself doing something he shouldn't have been doing. That was weird, she though, It's almost like he knew I was thinking his name. This thought alarmed her a bit. Could it be possible that Edward Cullen could read minds? She laughed at such a thought, but couldn't help but try one last thing.
As the bell rang, and everyone headed out of the lunch area, Camille stayed close behind Edward. Edward, she said clearly and calmly in her mind, as if she was simply saying his name out loud. Again, Edward turned, but this time expectantly.
"Yes?" He said.
"I didn't say anything." She murmured, faking confusion, but hard as she tried she couldn't stop the thought from leaping across her mind, for they materialized before she could stop them. He really did it! He can read minds!
Edward was turned away from her, but she could have sworn a flash of a frown crossed his face, but when she looked it was gone, and his perfect features were expressionless once more. She tried to clear her face the same way, and keep her thoughts under control, but gave up once he was out of sight. I wonder if he really can read minds. She thought seriously. Maybe he's a wizard! Or a vampire! A smile spread across her face. You're being ridiculous. She thought, Edward is just a completely normal human. Maybe a bit too perceptive for his own good. There's no way he's a vampire. She smiled as she caught sight of his back as she headed from her next class. She never took another step.
A/N: I never planned on that ending. Oh well.
