I'm Okay
I didn't get to see all of CSI NY this last week, so I'm not sure what exactly happened in the premier after Lindsay and Mac had the talk on the roof. This is my story for Lindsay. She is okay, but everyone won't stop calling her a hero. She didn't feel like a hero. This is Lindsay's POV.
I don't own any part of CSI NY, if I did...Jess wouldn't have died and Stella would still be working with our CSI's.

Lindsay sat at her desk and stared at the picture of Danny and Lucy. She couldn't believe that she almost lost them both to Shane Casey. She still couldn't deal with how she felt about killing him. She didn't feel like a hero, but everyone else did.
She really needed to talk to Stella. She missed her so much. Her promotion and transfer to New Orleans came at a bad time for Lindsay, but she was so happy for her friend. She missed Jess at times like this too. She couldn't talk to Mac or Danny about this, they'd tell her to go see the department shrink. Don, Hawkes, Sid, and Adam were out of the question too.
Maybe she should take some time off and go visit Stella. Stell would understand how she felt about all of this. She'd have to talk to Danny to see if they had the money in their budget to take the time off and go to New Orleans. Maybe Danny could come with her and Lucy. The trip might do them some good.
She picked up her phone and shot Mac a text, asking him if she could take the rest of the day off. When he replied that it was okay, she left a note for Danny on his desk. She let him know that she was going to pick up Lucy from his mom's house and she'd see him at home.
She quickly left her office before Jo Danville came back looking for her. She liked her, but she wasn't Stella or Jess. She really missed them both. Lucy kept asking for Aunt Stella when Mac came to visit. Lucy loved her Auntie Stella.
When Lindsay picked Lucy up, she promised her worried mother in law that everything was fine. She was just tired of everyone calling her a hero and needed some time off to spend with Lucy. She just wanted to hold her daughter and take her home to watch some of Lucy's favorite videos. Lindsay promised to call her later.
She buckled Lucy into her car seat and got into her Avalanche and headed home. On the way there, she stopped at their favorite fast food place to get them some lunch. She grabbed an extra burger for Danny for when he got home too.
When Lindsay got home, she was surprised to see Danny there waiting for her. He told her that his mom called, worried about her and Mac had given him the rest of the day off too. So he came home to wait for her.
She promised him that she was alright and just needed to spend some time with Lucy. She handed him a burger, split her fries with him, and they spent the rest of the day watching kids videos. It was just the three of them...mommy, daddy, and Lucy sitting on the floor of the family room watching videos.
Detectives Messer were left at the door and at work tonight. This is what Lindsay really needed to get over the shooting. She just needed Danny, Lucy, the kids videos and a normal family night. She'd be fine as long as she could have this.
