The perfect cake

"Professor, They all look fantastic!" Luke whined as he pressed his hands further on the glass of the display case. "I can't decide at all." His innocently sparkling eyes shifted again and again over the colourful and sweet pastry that was in front of him, making his mouth water.

Each cake that was on display simply looked too delicious not to taste and Luke had troubles picking just one. "Which do you take, Professor?" But the gentleman only chuckled and leaned down to his apprentice. "But Luke, my boy, you should have your own opinion." He explained and left the young boy with a pout on his face.

Layton had his faithful student Luke over for a little tea-party and for that, he's taken Luke to a rather fancy and expensive pastry shop.

Luke kept viewing the baked goods for a little while, his stomach started to rumor as he felt more hungry for one of the cakes. 'Alright.' He spoke in his thoughts and put a hand on his chin to think. 'I don't want something too sweet.' His eyes wandered to the Sacher Cake which had decorative flowers made from cream on it – This one wouldn't be it.

He continued pondering. 'Neither do I want something too simple. After all, we are at this exclusive confectionery, I should pick something I don't get anywhere else.' This time he looked at the Chocolate Cheesecake – This one wouldn't be it either.

Luke sighed, finding the right cake for himself was a rough puzzle!

But the more he thought the more hungry he felt, why couldn't he just have a piece of each? Just when he wanted to give up, the perfect cake appeared in front of him, not too sweet, not too blunt, not too fancy and not too simple. "That's the one I want professor!" he sang happily and pointed at the Sunday's Hazel-nut Cake through the glass.

"Very well my boy." Layton smiled with the same happy smile he always had when he saw the young male cheerful like that. He then turned to the pastry cook "Then that's what I will have as well."

"Wait, you're taking what I have? But professor!" Luke's happy face suddenly turned into a confused one. "Didn't you just say to have an own opinion?" he looked up at the man as he received the white box which held the cake inside of it.

"Actually." Layton started but broke up for a small chuckle. "I couldn't decide myself."

Luke couldn't be angry at his beloved professor, after all picking the cake was such a difficult task! "And I knew, you'd pick something fantastically palatable!" The professor winked at the young boy, who laughed as they left the pastry shop to try the perfect cake to a perfect cup of warm tea.
