Enrico kicked the door door and slung a vial of holy water at the first thing that moved. It shattered and a pain glutted shriek followed. Quick scan. Coffin on the left three metres, table chairs right on the wall, four and a half metres. Target burned, staggering back two-almost three metres. Movement from the coffin. He launched forward, slid the last distance and slammed a wild rose on the lid. It fell back with a resounding crash. Swiftly he yanked out his crucifix and thrust it at the other vampire. He tried to push forward, but the symbol of Christ's sacrifice held him at bay.
In total control Enrico Maxwell slowly got to his feet. As head of Iscariot he didn't need to hunt vampire's personally, but the Lord's work was its own reward. Quietly he slid a silver dagger from his hidden hand. He stalked forth, chanting holy verse. The vampire darted to the left and right, but slowly backed up.
The flourishes Enrico gave to waving the crucifix around kept the filthy thing's attention on it and not his other hand. Its damned eyes darting fast. The holiness of the symbol before it searing its face. It was less than worthless. Worse than the basest sinner. It had committed the most vile acts, Enrico told himself, and would continue to do so until destroyed.
That fire, so pure and right burned in every nerves and muscle. His body perspired lightly. Mouth dry. Every click of his boots the approaching death knell. It was a small effort to keep his hands steady.
The vampire was almost in the corner. Enrico feinted hard to his right and it was over. It launched forward, trying to break free on the other side. Enrico's left lanced upwards, carving through bone and it heart. It gasped, trembled and died. Its form disintegrated into unhallowed ashes. Only a solitary gold ring left behind.
The screaming and banging increased. A woman's voice. A damned soul. Enrico unbuckled his stake and advanced.
One more kill in His Name.
