Making Friends.
Ok so this is my first ever spooks-fic it's Lucas!Centric about how he earned everyone's friendship personally, we know what happened in cannon. But what happened after the cameras stopped rolling, when the cameras were not even there or when they did not notice the double Enders the team all came out with? My take.
I know the Malcolm 1 sounds like slash but it is NOT, EVER!
HAROLD PEARCE
'They told me I could come home if I spied for them.'
'And what did you say?'
'I said yes'
He grinned at the look on Lucas' face, praying his old protégé was joking he turned back to the road.
'Do you think we could stop for fish and chips? I've got a craving.'
Harry's heart plummeted, fish and chips, chalk and cheese, black and white, truth and lies.
'Seriously?' Seriously?
'Deadly,' I wanted to come home: I would have done anything. Help me, please.
He spoke to the driver.
'There's a fish and chip shop around the corner.' I will do what I can, are you willing to double?
He nodded his thanks as the driver turned, none the wiser to the conversation he just witnessed.
MALCOLM WYNN JONES
'How's your mum?'
He spent eight years in isolation and then he comes back and nothings changed same smile, same walk, and same concern for others.
'She's fine.'
ADAM CARTER
'Chip?'
'Thanks.'
He smiled….
Later.
'… And I know how he feels. Let me help.'
Adam scrutinised him.
'How long have you been in those clothes?'
He liked Lucas North, trust would come in time.
….even later…
'If Lucas doesn't get the code.'
He won't get it. It's not his fault.
Adam pushed the pedal down harder and the engine cried out.
ROSALIND MYERS
'Adam Carter is dead.'
He wished he could say more, but he felt numb as he turned towards the tower of smoke.
'So,'
He didn't look at the blonde-haired woman.
'You're Lucas North?'
He didn't turn away from the smoke as he confirmed.
'You must be Rangefinder; do you know how wound up you had the FSB?'
She did not answer his question.
'I'm Rosalind Myers.'
He finally looked at her.
'It's nice to meet you Rosalind Myers. If only it was under better circumstances.' He said the last bit more to himself, but she nodded: agreeing silently.
She started breathing again when the smoke cleared.
He made to move forward but she grabbed his arm. Before he realised he had her arm in a tight lock behind her back. When he did realise he let go, mentally cursing himself as he apologised.
'I'm sorry Rosalind; my instincts took over, sorry'
Ignoring the pain in her shoulder, she waved his apologies off.
'It's fine, I should know better, highly tense situation anyone would react like that, if you didn't I'd have been really worried. And call me Ros, everyone else does.'
He nodded his breathing was starting to catch as panic set in.
'What's wrong?'
'I blew it Ros.'
She touched his hand but he drew it back, she knew better than to be hurt, he had just spent eight years in prison after all.
BEN KAPLAN
'Thanks for this Lucas.'
They had been sat in the bar for an hour and were both pretty much gone.
'Anytime you need to talk Ben.'
He nodded, thankful.
'I like you.'
JO PORTMAN
'Don't worry; I'll keep an eye on him.'
He smirked and she smiled genuinely relived. She hadn't known Lucas North long but she liked him, trusted him with her (and more importantly Ben's) life.
She stepped out of the van.
As she walked he comm Kicked in.
'He's fine Jo, promise.'
And that was Lucas North.
