AUTHOR's NOTE

This is a sequel to my earlier story, Lost Dreams. I'm writing this upon realizing that it was WAY more popular than I ever thought it would be, having written it on a whim in about 20 minutes. So, screw it, why not do more just for the hell of it, if people enjoyed the original?

Chapter 1

There she was, in her beautiful wedding gown. It was the happiest day of Brian's life. They had happily spent several years together already, but now they commit to the rest of their lives together. Jill was the woman that Brian loved. She walked down the aisle so gracefully. When she reached the altar, however, the ground opened up, caving way to a dark abyss. He leapt to the ground to save her and she reached out to him, to no avail. She fell into the darkness, whispering "Wuck.."

Brian woke up in a sweat, the phone ringing. He looked at the clock. 8:52 PM. His sleep schedule was all kinds of messed up. He checked the caller ID. It was Jeff, his best friend. "...yarla?" Brian said into the receiver, only half awake, and still a bit shaken from his nightmare.

"Tumu bokava brosh! Merkle jingla noiru?"

Brian didn't want to go to the bar with Jeff. He didn't want to do much of anything. "Pok."

"Loochler irno lood, Brian. Norby guraga gorg. Feechly, dub merkle?" Jeff pleaded.

Had it already been six months? Brian pondered. Well, if Jeff was buying, he wouldn't say no to some drinks. "Badge." He replied. Jeff seemed relieved and said he'd meet Brian there. He'd known Jeff for a long time now. They had been best friends ever since they made funny faces at each other for four consecutive hours.

Brian got out of bed and meandered slowly into the bathroom. The face in the mirror was hardly recognizable. A thick, scraggly beard covered it that had never been there before. The hair was unkempt and greasy. The worst of it all was the eyes and the unspeakable sadness that lied within. Jill had always said she loved his beautiful eyes and how full of life they were. "Morbo fufana dario nug," she always told him. Would she even recognize him now?

"Jill, rapuski susha zap...", he whispered into the mirror. He missed her deeply. Brian sat there for a long time, wondering if life could ever be normal again without Jill.
