Summary: Alan has a nightmare and ends up in another's bed. This story is set not long after Alan loses his mother just a few months.
A/N: This is my first story for this particular fandom and hopefully will be the first of many for this fandom. Just a little cute one-shot that came to mind when I was up late one night with insomnia.
Jeff had always been a light sleeper but more so since his sons had been born and especially since losing his wife Lucille a few months earlier. Something had awoken him he was sure, that something or someone was inside his room, his and Lucille's and as he lay silently on his bed he heard it again.
A small stumbling shuffling footstep near his door which was coming closer to his bed. He could hear also a slight sniffling noise and he knew from just these simple sounds just who it was who was invading his sleep and who soon would be invading his bed.
"Daddy?" he heard a small almost silent whimper, as the footsteps came to a stop and he rolled over to see his youngest son standing at the side of his bed looking at his father with tears streaming from his big blue eyes as he clutched onto a tattered old blanket that had been his for years and which he refused to surrender to the bin, in one hand and in his other hand the ear of a rather moth eaten old rabbit that Jeff knew had originally belonged to his eldest son Scott but which had gradually found its way down to his youngest.
Jeff said not a word as he pulled back his blankets and then helped the baby of the family scramble up onto the bed scuttling over until he was up against his father burrowing as close and as tightly into his father's side as he could and Jeff pulled the blankets back up and over covering his son, as the small boy next to him settled down to sleep once more, now that he had his daddy close to him.
He looked down at the tousled hair of the small boy that was clutching tightly to him in his sleepy state and he sighed to himself as he thought of the anguish and grieving his family was currently going through especially his youngest who had been with Lucille when she had died and who Jeff had been certain he had lost also as well as his beloved.
Alan's body become stiller and calmer as sleep claimed him again and Jeff allowed a small smile to grace his features as he himself settled down to sleep once more.
A/N: Well I hope you liked it, if you did leave a review and if you didn't well that's up to you if you wish to leave a review or not.
