They were in the middle of nowhere in South Carolina where Nico's final shadow travel had taken them. Coach Hedge sat over in the woods writing letters and folding them into airplanes for the wind nymphs to carry his messages. Reyna sat in front of the tent staring at the stones of the grave marker from the old battle that took place in the Civil War. Nico sat beside her. "About the ghost in Cuba, who were they?" "They-they were nobody.." Reyna said. "Reyna, everyone needs to talk about their problems and feelings to someone." "The main thing about ghost is that most of them have lost their voice." Nico looked towards the grave marker. "Their like that because they never spoke out." "Your voice is your identity." Nico turned and look Reyna in the eyes. "If you don't use it then your halfway to Asphodel already." Nico said with a shrug. Reyna shifted uncomfortably. "The ghost were my ancestors." Reyna said. "The Ramírez-Arellano family goes way back." About 10 minutes passed and Nico listened to every last detail. He felt so weird and out of place. Actually listening to people's problems and being there for someone when no one had ever been there for him besides his sisters. Reyna broke through his thoughts. "Thank you for listening.." Reyna's voice trailed off. "I've never shared that with anyone." "I guess I'm just special." Reyna smiled. "Yeah I suppose so." Nico done the thing he never thought he would have done, he laced his fingers through Reyna's. She was shocked but the craziest thing is that Reyna gripped Nico's hand and blushed a little. Nico was sure his pale face was pure red. He could feel the burning like he was standing in front of a fire. They sat there in silence for a few minutes and Nico smiled. Something he doesn't do often. Finally Nico broke the silence. I expected you to knock me out." Reyna grinned. "And why would I do that?" They lightly laughed and moved closer to each other. It was starting to get dark out. They both laid in front of the tent gazing up at the stars in the nights beautiful sky. Reyna had her head on Nico's chest and he had his arm wrapped around her. "This is nice." Reyna said. "To bad it's almost the end of the world." Reyna said quietly. "Yeah." Nico said grimly. They laid there peacefully almost like normal teens but Nico knew that would never be possible. Nico felt a feeling that he wasn't really used to. A feeling of love. Reyna looked up at him. "What's troubling you?" Nico looked at her. "Nothing I'm just thinking." About what?" Reyna said. "Mainly you." Nico smiled and so did Reyna. She kissed him. Nico was shocked.. but he loved it. He kissed her back. Neither of them really knew why they were kissing but they felt.. happy. They pulled away from the kiss blushing like crazy and they stared at each other. "Maybe Aphrodite was wrong." Reyna said. "What do you mean?" "She once told me no demigod would ever heal my broken heart." Nico looked up at the stars. "I guess she could be wrong." He laughed as he said it. "Above all your heart could be healed by a son of Hades." Reyna smiled. "Your by far the greatest child of Pluto— well Hades I've ever had the pleasure of meeting." Nico smiled. A child of Hades in love? It was insane bit it was actually happening. Maybe his dad had meant it when he told him that he wanted him to be different. An exception to being a child of Hades. To actually be happy. He had thought his dad wasn't serious. Me? Nico Di Angelo be happy? At the time it was almost enough to laugh about but now Nico thought it could actually be possible. He kissed Reyna again. "We should get some sleep, we have a long day ahead of us." "Yeah." Reyna agreed. She fell asleep on Nico's chest which surprisingly Nico was comfortable with. He dosed off with his last thoughts being of Reyna. Then he began to dream.
