A flash of red, and a chilling scream was all he remembered. He was bound by powerful magic, staring up at powerful figures pressing down on his very being. Behind him, he could feel hundreds of eyes burning into his back. He could hear the quiet whispers, voicing different levels of confusion, disappointment, and anger.

"Silence!" A loud banging of a gavel followed shortly, like the crack of a thunder after the flash of lightning. Even he was started by the loudness and was forced to focus on one of the powerful beings in front of him.

"Captain Pit of Palutena's army, you are being charged with a heinous crime."

Zeus. Long ago when Medusa attacked, the former King of Gods had helped train him to become stronger. He remembered the look of satisfaction and pride on Zeus' face whenever he successfully completed his challenges. Now, all the god even spared for him was contempt and condemnation.

"You have attacked your own patron goddess in front of several witnesses."

The crowd behind him gasped in surprise. He wanted to deny it. He wanted to protest, but he couldn't find the words. He looked at the Centurion brigade to the side, who all averted his gaze.

"For that, we must punish you."

He swallowed the lump in his throat. Punishment handed down from a single god was infamously terrible. Punishment from the entire pantheon was almost unheard of, and the prospect terrified him.

"We hereby strip away your divinity and cast you out to the mortals to deal with."

The girl sitting by him jumped, her drill like pigtails bouncing with the sudden movement. He recognized her as Ceed, the Captain of Palutena's Mages. The mages were a separate division from the army and handled public issues in Skyworld. Ceed was supposed to be his defense in this case, but they had both known the trial was a farce from the beginning. "Lord Zeus, I beg you to reconsider, we haven't even discerned why—"

"Silence, or we will cast you out with him!" She immediately backed down and shot him an apologetic look. "That is precisely why we cannot allow him to stay. He is a danger to the rest of Skyworld! He has already slain two Goddesses."

Slain? He stared at the pantheon in disbelief. Sure, he remembered there was blood on his hands when he woke up, but Palutena… His Lady Palutena was dead?

"Galactos. Will you do the deed?"

The god with the long blue hair stood up. He lifted a robed hand and summoned his staff from a pocket in space. He pointed it at Pit, and in a flash of blue light, he felt his power drain. His laurels fell out of his hair, he felt his bangles and decorations come apart and clatter noisily at his feet. And then all he felt was an intense burning on his back. He screamed in pain. It felt as if his wings had been turned to wax and were melting off his back. He felt his bones disconnect and reassemble and heard a sickening plop behind him. His right arm began to burn with runes branding themselves upon his skin. He rubbed at it, futilely trying to stop the phantom sensations.

"You are no longer the divine, but a monster." Galactos declared. "If there is malice detected in your heart, the runes will activate and reflect upon your body your crimes." With a flourish, he dismissed his staff and sat back down.

Satisfied, Zeus nodded. "Viridi, cast him out."

A young blonde goddess shrieked. "Why do I have to deal with the dork?" She demanded.

"Because I commanded it, now do it!"

"Fine, fine." The child goddess grumbled. "You are no longer welcomed here, blah blah blah, now get out!" She raised her scythe like staff and waved it lazily at him. The ground parted from under his feet and he began to plummet.

According to rumors, after Brawl's success, a company called Factor Five wanted to do a Kid Icarus sequel and some of its concept art got leaked, becoming what is infamously known as the Man Icarus project. I believe they wanted to give Pit a cursed tattoo that described a crime he committed. That was also the time when "Fallen Angel Pit" became popular, so that idea stayed with me for a long time, died down for a while and resurfaced when Uprising was released. I've been planning since, and now, why not let out a prolog?
