I have never really been one to fit in. Ever since I can remember my family has bounced from state to state for my fathers construction work. Never really giving me any time to make friends. We finally settled in Southern Mississippi. And my life has again taken a turn for the… unusual.
I had just finished my first class and was headed to my locker with my best friend Savannah, when I spotted him. He had ran into me, I hadn't seen him before that day, which was odd for my little school. Everyone knew everyone.. And everything. I studied him for a minute before speaking, he had dark long hair that covered his eyes, it was stringy it looked as if it had not been washed or brushed in a few days at least. He had hazel eyes, from what I could tell, and was tall and skinny.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't notice you there. " I mumbled still studying him.
"Its alright, in fact I have been looking for you" he said and looked at me.
"you… what? Do I even know you?" I managed to mumble out scared to death.
" Atalya Creech, I'm pleased to announce you have officially been invited to join the House of Night." he said proudly.
I took a long moment of silence thinking for a moment. The House of Night of course I had heard of it, a vampire finishing school, I always thought it a myth though. Just then my forehead began to tingle. I opened my locker and looked in a small mirror I kept there. In the middle of my forehead was the infamous symbol of all vampires, a silver crescent moon. I heard Savannah gasp.
"Its so pretty" she said. "You're gunna be a vampire how cool!"
I just rolled my eyes.
" Maybe, but I could die if the legends are true, and I also have to move " I frowned. " I can never just be a normal kid"
I then turned my attention to the person who had done this to me.
" Okay so are you gunna take me to this House of Night?" I questioned. "because I have no clue were it is."
