1. Excuse me - his voice is confident as he calls out to the wide eyed brunette who walks into the hidden clearing he had found (his voice is confident but he is not, his heart pounding madly in his chest). They had just been in a plane crash - the fucking plane fell from the sky - but what shakes his confidence is not the steel bird plummeting from a thousand feet, it is the inevitability of what he has to do (trust a complete stranger, let go of his control on the situation, and trust her to fix him).

2. Of course I will - there is a voice inside of her (deep down inside of her) yelling and screaming, calling for her to turn the other way and run (run fast, run away). The voice doesn't stop, urging, begging, pleading for her to do what she does best. But there is something else (his warm brown eyes and the way his lips twitch in a small smile) that is pulling her towards this man. He needs her help and she cannot say no to him (why though, she cannot explain it, not just yet).

Together they count to five.

Five clicks and she stitches the cut on his back.

Five clicks and they are eternally sewn to one another.

3. I don't know your name - he feels slightly silly as the words escape his lips (like a nervous teenager at his first party trying to ask a girl to dance with him, awkwardly). They have been talking for hours (but it only felt like minutes) and it feels like they've known each other for ages (but he just realizes he does not know her name).

4. I'm Kate - not Lucy, not Maggie, not Annie, not some generic name that pops into her mind, no Kate (and that voice deep inside of her is yelling again). For years, she has never been Kate, but when he asks her (and he smiles so boyishly despite the situation they find themselves in) the truth just rolls off her tongue involuntarily.

5. Jack – he smiles into the words (he is that teenaged boy and the girl said yes). And when she smiles in return (cheeks shining a bright red and freckles shimmering in the bright moonlight) his smile spreads even wider (and for a split second, just as their bond is molded to last forever, he forgets they were in a plane crash).
