Poppuri had always thought leaving with Kai to the big city would be great!

How I wish he'd take me with him!", she thought as she scattered chicken feed on the ground.

It was already the 29th day of summer, Poppuri thought silently. She knew Kai would be leaving tomorrow. It would take another year before they see each other again. Poppuri's face dropped at the thought. How she wished he would take her with him! She wanted to go with him and live in the big city.

"I hope he asks me",she wished harder.

As she closed her eyes, a hand grasped her shoulder. This startled her at first. But for some unknown reason she didn't scream. She opened her eyes. It was Kai.

"Hi Babe! I knew you were dreaming about me", he said, smiling confidently at the same time.

"Hi Kai", Poppuri greeted. She was smiling her sweetest smile.

"Popps, I was wondering, do you want to visit the big city?" Kai asked while playing his lips.

"I'd love to!", Poppuri jumped with joy. Filled with excitement, she flung her arms around the boy and kissed him on the cheek. "I'd love to Kai!"

"Go get your things then", he ordered. "We're leaving in an hour."

"An hour?" Poppuri muttered in confusion. "But I thought you're leaving tomorrow?", she hesitated.

"Change of plans babe", the boy reasoned.

"But my mom?! Who would care for her while I'm gone?" Poppuri hesitated further.

"Look! Rick will care for her... It's not like the old woman would die if you leave her", Kai snapped, irritated at Poppuri. "Now go get your things" he ordered.

"Okay. But first let me say goodbye to her", she stalled.

"Can your goodbyes. You're coming back tomorrow anyway. Now hurry up. We've wasted enough time already!" Kai said, shoving Poppuri towards the door.

The girl obediently followed. She went inside the wooden house and snucked to her room. She took a couple of her clothes and stuffed it in her bag. After that, without much of a fuss, she left.

"Kai! I'm back", Poppuri called. "About time!" Kai answered, grabbing her hand and breaking in for a mad dash. They ran very fast. Too fast, that Poppuri could hardly catch up. But she held on. Minutes later, they reached the dock. Kai skidded to a halt. Poppuri looked at him. "What had just happened there?" she wondered.

"Maybe..." she thought, "maybe we're eloping!" She blushed at the thought.
