Randy saw Sharona was getting really upset. She was trying not to get upset but that was impossible. She'd been through a lot the last few months and she was really starting to break down. That's why she got so irritable a few days ago.
'Captain, I think she's upset,' Randy mouthed to Leland.
Leland rolled his eyes. You didn't need to be Monk to figure that out.
"Hey Sharona," he said softening his voice, "I… I understand how tough this is for you"
"Thank you," she said softly, "It's… it's just too much"
"Calm down before you hyperventilate," Randy said, "I know this seems bad but it's really not so bad"
The dam broke. Her eyes started to water. Randy rubbed her shoulders and hugged her rubbing her back gently.
"Hey," he soothed, "I think this is bigger then what just happened"
Again Leland rolled his eyes and mumbled, 'ya think'.
"It's just too much," Sharona said, "in the last 15 days my world has fallen apart. This CAN'T HAPPEN! IT CAN'T! It just CAN'T"
She was yelling at the last part.
"Calm down," Randy whispered, "I think this goes beyond what's just now. Here sit down. Tell us what's going on"
Sharona started shivering. She seemed incoherent.
"Trevor is suing me for custody of Benjy," she whispered, "can you imagine what all this is going to do for his case"
"ABSOLUTELY NOTHING," Randy said angrily at Trevor, "THE MAN IS THE BIGGEST JERK THAT THIS WORLD HAS EVER SEEN! THERE IS NO WAY HE WOULD GET CUSTODY OF BENJY! HE WOULDN'T GET CUSTODY OF A DAMN CAT. NO JUDGE WITH AN OUNCE OF COMMON SENSE WOULD GIVE BENJY TO THAT IDIOT!"
"Wow Randy," Leland said, "Angry much"
"WHEN SOMEONE MESSES WITH MY FRIEND YOU'D BETTER DAMN BELIEVE IT. SHE'S BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH AS IT IS," Randy said making his message clear, "and I will NOT allow anything to happen to her. She means too much to me"
"Randy," Leland said almost teasingly, "You're in love with her"
"So what if I am and I'm not saying that I'm not but what if I am."
"Okay, okay," Leland said, "come on. I think we can all use a bite to eat"
It was a rough time but Sharona knew that she would get past this. She had a couple of amazing friends.
