Hermione's Dilema

by Amy S. Farmer

A/N: Now that I know how to post these things properly, I'm rewriting the story that came out as blank. And since the original title was already used both as a chapter in PoA and in stories on this site, I decided to change the title. And of course, I own nothing in this story. Thanks to J. K. Rowling for creating such a wonderful series of books.

Harry Potter looked up from his Transfigurations book. "Is something bothering you, Hermione?" he asked.

"What makes you ask that?" Hermione asked.

"While, you are pacing instead of studying, even though the O.W.L.s are coming up."

"Oh Harry, if I tell you what's bothering me, do you promise not to tell Ron?" Harry nodded and said something that sounded like a promise, so Hermione continued. "While, do you rember when Ron dumped me for Cho?" The look on harry's face told her he knew all too well. "While, when I saw I was losing Ron, in a sort of last ditch effort to keep his love, I kind of sort of, well, I went all the way with him."

Harry did some quick mental calculations. "And now you are late?" he asked. When Hermione merely nodded, he said, "While then, you've got to tell Ron. He has a right to know. If you want, I'll go with you."

Hermione said, "Oh, would you? Thank you. I guess you'll have to wear your invisibility cloak, since Ron might not want you to be there for this conversation."

So Harry put on his invisibility cloak, and Hermione consulted the Marauder's Map. They found Ron just outside of Snape's dungeon, kissing Cho before she went into the classroom.

When Ron was alone and Cho was out of earshot, Harry and Hermione walked up to him. "Ron, can we talk?" Hermione asked.

"Uh, I guess so," Ron said.

"While, do you remember that night in the hidden passage behind the statue?" When Ron blushed and nodded, Hermione continued, "While now I am pregnant."

Ron's face betrayed his shock. "Didn't you use a protection spell?"

"I forgot," Hermione said. "I had a lot on my mind that night."

"No you did it deliberately. You knew I was getting ready to dump you, so you decided to get your hooks into me any way you could. While it won't work. The baby is your problem not mine."

As Hermione began to sob, Harry, still hidden by the invisibility cloak, punched Ron. When Ron recovered from the surprise attack he said, "So, you brought Harry with you. You know, I wonder if the baby's even mine. I bet you were sneaking around behind my back."

At that, Harry tore off the cloak, and said "I never touched her and you know it." Then he hit Ron again.

Harry led Hermione away from Ron. When they were out of earshot, Hermione collapsed into bitter sobs on Harry's shoulder. As Harry did his best to comfort her, it occurred to him how much he loved her. He led her back to Gryffindor tower, and into the girls dorm room. He tucked her into bed, and then said, "Don't worry. Things will work out. I'll tell you more a little later."

Harry ran a couple of errands, first to Dumbledore's office, then to Hogsmeade. Then he returned to find Hermione.

She was asleep, and Harry could tell by the wetness of her pillow that she had cried herself to sleep. He gently shook her awake. When she awoke, the first thing she saw was Harry holding a jeweler's box in front of her. The box was open to reveal a diamond ring. "Hermione, will you marry me?" Harry asked.

A/N: This is the beginings of a series. I hope you like it. Please R/R thanks.
