Disclaimer: I don't own death note and this is just a crazy little one-shot I thought up in my free time.
I thrust myself down the street even though my breaths were becoming forced and I was gripping my arm to hold up the dead weight it gave me, even though my hand was more red than anything, even though I had no idea where I was going. Near had beaten me like I was the king in chess and I now I'd become simply a pawn in God's game of chess called life. I looked up for a moment when I sensed a figure walking towards me against the twilight background but as he came closer I saw myself from 7 years ago, just a student with a average college notebook sticking out of my bag. As our paths crossed he stopped but even after the possibility that I was hallucinating crossed my mind I stopped as well when he turned to face me saying "You've lost a lot, Kira." His words angered me slightly even though I didn't quiet understand what he was getting at even so I couldn't reply to this because my wheezing had gotten out of control as my lungs gasped for air not allowing me to talk.
"Think about it, L, Your father, Takada and Ryuk and yourself of course. It was all down to this notebook of death." he said as he pulled the death note from his bag and displayed it too me as if it was completely foreign. "Look at all the people you've killed" He flicked through the blank pages slowly but as he went on names appeared on the lines. Naomi Misora, Raye Penber, Higuchi, L Lawliet, Mello, Takada and now you. I saw the death note he was holding and across one of the pages was scribbled the name Light Yagami "As if I would kill myself!" I managed to say before he cut me off again with another remark that made little sense. "Ever since the first time you used the death note you've been killing yourself inside. No you're not even Light Yagami anymore you've become the demon Kira who kills for his own form of justice." "My justice is true and righteous I rid the world of criminals in order to carry out my judgement! This world is rotten andd it needs to be fixed!" I nearly screamed as I felt the burning in my lumgs as if they were about to burst and splatter my blood across the street with them.
He turned away and looking at the sunset said " I am Light Yagami I may die with you Kira as we share our body but my spirit will live on in the people L trusted with his legacy and because of this true justice will be obtained someday and until then I will walk down this road as a shadow of where Kira began." I looked at him with wide eyes he as filled with lies I am the only light yagami, the only one who will bring righteous judgement to the world and while I watch the note book in his hands fade away like a sin being burnt he turns and says.
"We will explore nothingness together then, Kira, old friend?"
A/N: I don't know why but I decided to upload this even though it's really short and kind of pointless however I think the idea of Light and Kira being two different people in the same is kind of true so I created a situation in which I could show that.
