1
Before she met Po, Katsa didn't know her limits. Because no one person had ever come close to beating her until him. She loves that she doesn't have to be careful when they fight.
2
After Po, Katsa realizes she really doesn't know all that she can do, and probably won't until the day it isn't enough to win.
She finds this out as Po dies and she slaughters her way through half an army and stabs two daggers into Leck's Graceling eyes, snarling like the wildcat he always said she was.
3
She hates that nickname.
4
Faith was what made her take Bitterblue through that pass in the mountains. She tells herself it was faith in her Grace, and not in him and his thoughts on her Grace.
5
It takes her exactly six seconds after hearing him announce that her Grace is survival for Katsa to realize that she will never be able to bear him a child.
6
He tells her he thinks she will want a child when she knows she will survive it. He tells her when she trusts him enough to protect her, she will want a child.
She very carefully doesn't think that the day she trusts him that much is the day he beats her, and that day will never come.
7
When Leck kills Po, the grief is nothing like she thought it would be. It is a quiet thing that creeps upon her in the middle of a battle, and it soothes her rage to a cool hatred of everything.
8
They called her the lady killer. Now they don't call her much of anything at all, mostly because the last person she glared at died of a heart attack not a day later.
9
Because of this, they don't believe her when she says her Grace is not killing. Now, she just finds it sad to the point of laughing.
10
Now, when they do talk of her, Katsa is the Kingkiller. She thinks it would only be really fitting if she got rid of Randa.
She's been thinking about it.
11
Katsa never hated Randa, but she pitied him and he filled her with rage. And every dog needs a master until it realizes it is a wolf.
12
She really did hate Leck. She wishes she had had time to make his death more painful.
13
Katsa never loves again after Po. She likes to tell herself he was the only one for her.
She doesn't like to think her Grace has learned that love is a danger to her life.
14
When she discovers she is pregnant with Po's child, the first thing that shoots through her mind is will her Grace kill it? Because she is hardwired for survival and babies are just so fragile and weak.
15
She has the child, and names him Gold. He goes to a wet nurse because her body isn't providing milk. She is only 'out of service' for the last three weeks.
His name would have been Po, except she can't even imagine calling that name and having only her child (god it hurts to think that) come.
16
Gold is not a Graceling, but he has the strangest hair; all black and gold and shades of blue. He is also a very beautiful baby, anyone could admit.
17
They always said Gracelings and their Graces were superhuman.
18
It wasn't supposed to be like this.
19
Katsa does not grow old.
20
As a child, she hated her Grace. And then she loved it, because it wasn't a monster, just an animal looking to survive. And then she hated it for making her watch her beautiful son age and die.
Katsa the Kingkiller lives in the mountains, hoping to one day meet her match so that she may finally die.
It will be a long time in coming.
